Default Does Anyone Here Rent BD?

I was just wondering, which is better for renting BD movies, Blockbuster Total Access or Netflix???

Right now I have I have Blockbuster Total Access but I have not been to happy with them. They don't carry all the BD movies just some of the major titles. I can't find March of the Penguins BD for example. And the titles they do carry are in short supply...I have to wait a long time to get some. Also, I would like to reserve some movies before they come out and I can't really do that with BD.

So which is better Total Access or Netflix???

I have a Blockbuster Rewards card, but I just think Blockbuster is planning to delay carring HD discs for as long as they can and so I'm looking at the mail-renting services, too. While I don't know for sure, it appears that NetFlix is a much better service for renting BDS. Their selection appears larger and they are wonderful for renting DVDs, at least according to everyone I know who uses NetFlix.

I use blockbuster. It is great, except for that they aren't always available right away, because I think they are out of stock. (That is actually a good thing for us bluray supporters). But I love it, rent one, return it in store and get another one for free. For $6 a month I get 4 movies, plus a free pass for a movie or game of my choice, so actually 5 movies for 6 bucks.

I know that the two blockbusters next to my house don't carry any BDs. I wish Blockbuster would hurry up and get with the HD program. I think I might switch to netfix....

I just rented The Holiday from Netflix. In general Netflix is very good with Blu-ray rentals but sometimes it takes a few days longer to receive Blu-ray movies from Netflix because they ship from a facilities that is out of state from me. In contrast, I always receive SD movies within 1 day after they are shipped.

Renting is good in my opinion because we can't buy every movie and personally I refuse to buy Blu-ray movies that don't include lossless audio tracks.

I do Blockbuster 17.99 for 3 movies at a time, which means, i can watch 6 movies or diff games a week.
My queue to have movies mailed is full of Blu Ray. Then i return those to the store for imediate exchange of 3 new regular dvd's. Within the next few days i get the next 3 movies in the mail. Then the cycle starts again.
Then you get a couple coupons you can print each month to get more movies at no extra cost.
Keep in mind that you can also get games also.
So for 18.00 month you can get about 6.5 to 8 movies or games a week. For a while i was maxing out on movies but have slowed downa bit at times. If you have a family with varied interest i don't know how you can beat this though.

I am not familiar with Netflix and as you can tell my local BB does not stock Blu Ray. Not yet anyway.

I think the fact that you can return your movies in exchange for new ones kinda one ups netflix at the moment.

I am using the Blockbuster on-line $18/month plan and I am very happy. I have mostly Blu-ray and some Universal HD DVD titles in my queue. There is a Blockbuster I often drive by to return the discs and if the stupid Blockbuser stores here will start renting Blu-ray, I could get a free Blu-ray rental with each return. Right now, I just get a free DVD rental of something not likely going to show up on Blu-ray. I tried Netflix for a month and a half and I slightly prefer Blockbuster but both are great.

I switched from Blockbuster to Netflix because BB wasn't shipping movies. Around January they started slowing down and at the point I went an entire week (24 movies in my queue) without having a movie shipped, I switched to Netflix. I haven't had any problems with movies shipping from Netflix although the new releases are usually hard to get the first few weeks. I at least get regular shipments of the other BR titles in my queue when my top choices aren't available.

My local B&M Blockbuster carries both formats. I'm more of a purchaser then a buyer so I haven't utilized them.

I have been very happy w/ NetFlix as far as Blu-Ray rentals.
Plus the Streaming movie thing now, I see no reason to go back to BB.

I quit netflix altogether out of sheer animosity. They began delaying the shipping & receiving of my discs in order to slow my high volume renting. When I began it took one day to get a movie and one day to get it returned. Three months down the line and it was taking four days both ways. I suspect that Blockbuster would do the same to me so I generally don't rent anymore. Instead, I buy movies and resell them if I don't want them.

They did the same thing to me a year ago and I dropped them. I started back up earlier this year just because my local BB doesn't carry BR yet. I've been with them a few months without delays but I suspect it's only a matter of time before it starts again. If it does, I'll drop them and possibly give BB a try again.

I often read about one service or the other starting to slow down delivery of discs in violation of the terms of the agreement, but I have not seen that myself yet. It was my understanding an available title would be shipped within two business days and received within three business days after shipped. So far that is what I have seen and I always have a title in my possession or in transit. My plan permits 3 at a time. Like the others, if my account shows nothing but a queue full of titles and none being shipped and none in my possession or in transit with some showing available, I am going to be pissed. I understand a queue with nothing available means nothing will be shipped.
