I just bought a brand new Panasonic DMP-BD35k, that will play all 5-6 discs I bought with it, but won't load ST. Correspondance w/ the company got me nowhere- they said check the disc for smudges! A forum about this problem on Amazon gave me the answer, someone told me he couldn't play it either until he loaded a blank SD card into the players slot. I tried it, and now it plays fine! Weird!?! I wish Panasonic could have told me this!!! Don't know if it's kosher or not, but here's that Amazon thread: http://www.amazon.com/tag/blu-ray/forum?%5Fencoding=UTF8&cdForum=Fx2R11KXGJPWBTU&cdT hread=Tx3QSU20SNM30WG

Same disc, same player, same problem -- same fix! Thanks for the heads up on this, saved me a trip back to BB...
One other note: once both SD card and disc are loaded into the player, you have to hit "Functions" button on remote, which brings up menu giving you choice to "toggle" between SD reader and BD playback. Thanks!! |

I do not own Starship Troopers yet but it is a BD-LIVE enabled disc according to the specs. This might be one of those rare titles that requires BD-LIVE to be active with a minimum of 1GB of storage installed for BD-LIVE. I have heard that once and awhile a studio by mistake most likely has the JAVA code set so that if the BD-LIVE feature with persistent storage is off, then the Blu-ray disc will not load in the Blu-ray player. For my OPPO and Panasonic Blu-ray players I leave BD-LIVE active all the time so that Blu-ray discs that require the use of persistent storage when loading have no troubles loading.
The ideal Blu-ray disc title should load when BD-LIVE is turn on or turned off. It should not matter but in the real world bad JAVA code between certain models of Blu-ray players and discs will require the BD-LIVE feature to be turned on even when there is not an active Internet connection. I hope someone can help me. I recently put my copy of Starship Troopers 1 Bluray with the UPC 0-43396-16098-9 in my Sony BDP-S350. It appeared to load to be loading fine but just after the loading bar was finished, nothing else happened. I was able to use my remote as if the movie was still loading but my screen was just dark like nothing was there at all.
So I then took out that disk and put in my Starship Troopers 2 Bluray movie version. It appeared to load exactly like the first movie, however, after the loading bar disappeared, it was only moments later and this version started just fine. Does any one have any suggestions? |

This is a well known issue that has been discusssed here for years now. You will need to install a memory stick on the back of your player in order for Starship Trooper to work. |

I had the same problem when originally attempting to play this disc as well. The movie is right there on the disc. Should not require external storage in order to load the menus. Total garbage. Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and the idiots behind the authoring of the disc can suck it. I will not allow my Blu-ray players to access the Internet and will not use external storage. I play a BD-J/BD-LIVE free version of the movie now, the disc I purchased from Amazon sitting on my shelf serving as a backup only.
