Anyone experiences with playing red book cd's on a blu ray player? How is the sound compared to a reasonable cd player?
Thanks, Michael |

Hi thanks for the reply,
in my livingroom I have a Philips 963 sa dvd/cd player (upsampling 192 khz), van den hul The first ultra as interconnects, Rotel RC-870 BX Pre amp and Rotel RB 981 Poweramp. Monster cable for speakers and Apogee centaur magnetostatic speakers. (LG 37" lcd HD ready) In my studio (where I record and listen to music) I have a Marantz CD player that goes (optical) to a TC electronic Finalizer, of which I use the D/A converters to an NAD poweramp amp to the Waldorf /emes Black TV monitorspeakers for Mid/high ( I use an active filter to split the signal) and then to another poweramp to a pair of JBL 4311B Monitor speakers (12" bass unit) for lows (90hz and below). I am looking for a better CD player for my livingroom and thought that maybe the blu ray could reproduce the cd's better because of the D/A converters, but I have no experience with that! Thans again, Michael Last edited by skhmx; 12-19-2008 at 10:13 AM. |

well i have a Yamaha cd player which it plays cd's in a very good level and i have sony s-300 blu-ray player and i notice the sounds is better on blu-ray player, specially in the surround effect setting my receiver on Dolby Prologic II. (the 5.1 simulatíon is much better on blu than in the cd player).

In my experience, the best redbook cd playback I have heard from a Blu-ray player is the Denon DVD-3800BDCI. It has the following features which makes it stand out from the pack:
# New dual 32-bit floating point DSP # Master clock design for more accurate processing and less jitter noise # Advanced AL24 processing provides more dynamic range # Burr Brown PCM-1796 audio decoders for all channels |
