It all depends on your tv.

I have a Samsung 1080p 120hz LCD and the settings I have are exclusive to my type of tv. It all depends on contrast ratios, resolution, etc, etc.

Do you see what I'm getting at? What may look good on mine, may look like garbage on yours.

The LCD TV we have is Sony Bravia 40" W Series. I mean the settings on the PS3. Not on the TV.

there is not really any settings in the PS3 that will give you better PQ.

as long as you have it set to 1080p. You might be able to use 1080p/24Hz...its probably set to "Auto" already.

whats more important is adjusting your Display settings correctly.

How could I set that 1080p/24Hz on my PS3? Is it automatically set? Or what settings should I change so I could use that?

well, what model W series is it??

Go into the PS3 XMB:

Settings - Video Settings - BD 1080p 24 Hz Output (HDMI) - Auto, On or Off

ok I found it.

Looks like your TV can do 24fps. So just set the PS3 1080p/24 Hz to "Auto".

well, not sure what you would need to do for that specific TV.

But I have read with Sony Tv's you might want to turn Motion Enhancer off (?) or Low (?)

Also, do not use Vivid mode.

Read through this: Sticky: Calibrate Your HDTV (the links at the bottom of first post)

and see if you can get your hands on this: Digital Video Essentials (Bluray)

I'm watching Ironman now but I don't get the full screen of the movie. What's the aspect ratio of my TV? Because the AR of Ironman is 2.40. Is it because of the AR that's why I'm not getting full screen?

Still confused, uhm why would not my Ironman fill up my screen? Is it because of the AR of my TV or the AR of Ironman? BTW what's the AR of my LCD TV?

HDTV's are 16x9

16x9 = 1.78:1 aspect ratio

anything higher and you get black bars on top and bottom

anything lower and you get black bars on the sides

these movies will get you movies with the no black bar look: List of Fullscreen 16:9 1.66-1.85:1 Blu-rays

Yes. That's the way it was filmed. It's a good thing, this way they don't chop off parts of the movie.

Grab Batman The Dark Knight, about quarter of the movie fills the entire screen with no bars.
