Default Onkyo 805 or 806 Final

straight simple answer, no explainations on "why", just choose what you prefer. I'll start by saying 805

because there is a huge thread on the 806, and I'm sure everyone already knows about the Burr Browns with the 805, so seems to me like a better advantage. Just don't know why they seem so hard to get?

Either www.ecost.com or www.accessories4less.com has the 805 refurbished for around 450.00 last time I looked.

I have the 805, and am very happy with it. Just wish it had a few more HDMI inputs.

I've never owned a 805, but I do own both a 606 and 806. I just got the 806 last week and I think it's great. That's all I can say.

just for sound comparison's sake, does the 806 REALLY sound that much BETTER than the 606 (fuller, richer, have punchier bass, and sound more dynamic in sound seperation)?

In my personal opinion, yes, I do believe that it sounds much better than the 606.

So a refurbished 805 at $550 has a better value than a brand new 806 at $620. Is this correct?

If you're an SACD fan with a player supporting DSD-output, go with the 805.
If you need more than 3 HDMI inputs, go with the 806.
Other than that there's really not much between them.

Onkyo warranties their refurbs for 1-year too and eCost's equipment will be serviceable through the Onkyo dealer network, as will Accessories4Less, so you won't have to send it back where you got it from.
