Hi all,
My parents have recently purchased a Samsung BD-P1500 to accompany their samsung DVD Recorder and TV. This worked fine for a while but after doing an update, the box will not respond to any controls via the remote nor the front panel. I've tried performing an firmware update via USB and CD but both failed due to the fact that nothing actually happened. It will load a disc but the LED Display shows LOAD once it's started playing but as soon as the disc menu appears, there is no way to proceed. We are getting it replaced but with it being christmas, we're not going to see anything for a while. Has anyone come across this problem before? If so, is there ANYTHING I can do to play a film until its replaced? Seasons greetings (just to be PC). Regards Gavin |

I thought that was the case although there are some films we'd love to watch over the festive period.
Thankfully, its getting replaced. Unfortunately not soon enough ![]() Enjoy the festive period! Regards |

1. Can you access the players Setup menu with no disc in the player?
2. Does the issue occur on more than one title or a specific title. 3. Have you tried holding the >> button down on the player for 15 seconds with no disc in the player to default all settings ? 4. Have you tried playing a regular DVD ? |

Just located this thread. You can return this player with your head held high ... I have the same player, with the same symptoms, but I have not yet even tried a firmware update. The player has decided it does detect any kind of disc inserted, it even shows open when the tray is closed, or closed sometimes when the tray is open.
My guess is the laser has gone bad in the unit. ![]() |

Perhaps this was Samsung's trojan horse to help kill blu-ray for VOD(Netflix/Blockbuster) players. I agree that the 1500 is being sold for $199 just about the last month and flying off the shelves quickly. If these players are as problamatic as the forums have made them out to be, I feel sorry for the return department. |
