Default Help with surround sound

I have a Onkyo TX-SR604 I have had for a couple of years and just got a Sony Blu Ray BDR-S350. I have input through the HDMI from the Blu Ray to the Receiver. Everything works great except for the audio when I play A Blu-Ray DVD that has 5.1 Dolby Tru-HD. All other DVD's, the audio is great. I realize the Onkyo TX-SR604 will not decode the Tru-HD audio however I assumed it would revert back to Dolby Digital Surround. Any thoughts?
Blessings,
Greg

Can you tell the Blu-ray player not to output TrueHD?

If you are running it that way, does any sound come out on the HD track? You should be getting sound either way even though it may not be HD. Check your settings on the BD and see if they are on Bitstream or LPCM. I dont know if your Sony does the processing internally like the PS3. The PS3 cant bitstream so you have to change the settings to LPCM. Check yourrs out on your player and see if that works.

The player will decode Dolby TrueHD. Your receiver can accept that signal, so just change the player's output to LPCM and you'll get TrueHD showing up as "Multich" on the receiver. Voila, lossless audio.

Unfortunately it won't do DTS-HD MA according to this site, but you'll still get the DTS core.

I'll try this and let you know how it worked, Thanks

Shouldn't you get the 'core' of DD or DTS no matter what. Yes the right equipment would be needed to get the full sound. But it would at least give you the core sound. I remember hearing this from the PS3-non DTS-MA days that you would at least get DTS.
