Talking 768p vs 1080p again

Boy did I open a can of worms with my last post but it sure made for good reading. The Insignia is out THANKS EVERYONE WHO SET ME STRAIGHT. Now I hope I do not do it again but what does anyone think about the LG50PG20 it is a 720p I have heard that LG is a pretty decent brand. Not trying to be cheap but for the price of this one i can afford the Onkyo 606 the Sony 350 and buy the extended warranty on the tv. Also can CNET reviews be trusted or are they mostly bogus. Reviews weren't to bad on this one

Well, I've owned several LG things, and have had problems with a some of them. Don't know too much about their televisions as I've never owned one, but the image looks decent.

if youre gonna talk about a TV, put in TV section.

Bluray player, bluray player section

receiver, receiver section

off topic, off topic section

etc.

...this just kills me.

if its between a 720p LG and a 720p Panasonic...Panasonic.

if its about pricetag? im sure both the LG or Panasonic will give you your moneys worth.

I personally like Cnet reviews... I think any review is a good review- it will at least tell you more than what you already know!! When you ask everyone our opinions were pretty much giving you our personal review (and some people here definitely can't be trusted!).

As far as LG goes... ehhhhhhh... I'm not super great with these "television" things everyone seems to talk about here, but I have an LG 36" 720p and it's decent at best. I didn't have much of a problem with it until I got my Panny plasma.
As far as I can tell the LG looks decent, I would suggest going to maybe check it out and compare it to other things in the price range.
Remember, seeing is believing!

http://www.viewpoints.com/LG-50PG20-review-c58a4

This is just one persons review.
I,ve searched the web and i can't find much,But if your thinking this LG to a Panasonic.Do yourself a favour and go Panasonic In my opinion.
your blu-ray will be grateful to you

Here's your specs for the LG

I would say LG is a step up ,but Panasonic is more then just one step

I'm not going to say to pick one over the other, but I do own the exact TV your talking about, the LG 50pg20. (I have 1 pic in my gallery)

I have been very pleased with this TV and have only great things to say about it. Most people on here seem to love the Panasonic plasmas, but other screens can be nice as well. The LG does have pretty good reviews and is an editor's choice for price here:

http://www.plasmatvbuyingguide.com/50-plasma-tv.html

I don't want to get slammed for making this point, but I do find the LG to be a much more sleek/stylish display compared to the Panasonic. This is purely from an aesthetic point of view. The LG has hidden speakers so the display looks more clean and I like the piano black gloss it has. When both displays are off, I like the way the LG looks. I won't debate the actual screens because I think you have plenty of opinions on that. I just wanted to point out another aspect to possibly think about.

So, from someone who doesn't have a Panasonic , I really love my LG. It's a very nice TV and I would just suggest looking at the two in different stores and seeing which you like best. (I would buy online though as the prices are better ) Let us all know what you get as I'm sure everyone will be curious.

+1. I have a Panny personally, but lots of my friends have other brands and they are happy. LG is a good company and have nice HDTV's. You're always going to hear someone gripe about this or that, but those are just personal experiences. Just because a few people dis one brand over another, doesn't mean they don't make good products.

To the TS..if you like the LG and it fits within your budget....GO FOR IT! ENJOY and BE HAPPY!
