Devils Rejects for $9.99?? - Blu-ray Forum

i havent seen really any of rob zombies films besides halloween. i just ordered house of 1000 corpses from amazon yesterday as part of the buy 2 get 1 deal. now i see they are giving devils rejects away for $9.99. is it worth the buy?!

im with ckent22 on this one, rob zombie's films are definitely an aquired taste, personally i loved both house of 1000 corpses and the devils rejects, but if you havent seen any of his films yet, id maybe wait and watch house of 1000 corpses first to see how you like it first before you decide if you want to order the devils rejects

I hated House of 1,000 Corpses but thought The Devil's Rejects was excellent. I'd definitely pick it up for $9.99!

I think House and DR are two very different movies. I can tolerate House but I love DR, you can really see how much he's grown as a filmmaker

I don't understand why this movie is so cheep it makes people think that this movie sucks.
The Devil's Rejects is a Bad A$$ flick. The AQ is solid soundtrack is great as well. The PQ is nice some grain but good a transfer.

I hated House and loved DR on first viewings. But after repeat viewings, I like House more and DR less every time.

well i havent seen house yet. i should have it tomorrow. one of my buddies and i share a lot of the same taste in movies. we especially talk about horror quite a bit. he said he loved house, so im assuming that i will too. can i assume that ill probably like devils rejects as well?

and like someone else said...

a blu for 10 bucks?!? who could resist??

Devil's Rejects is amongst my favorite films, for it's great mix of humor, action/violence/gore, and character development. Most people looking at this review already know all about this movie.

The Picture on this movie doesn't seem to be all that much of an improvement. I've seen VAST differences on Blu-Rays vs DVD (Unforgiven especially!!!), and this movie just doesn't seem to have all that much extra when watching it in Hi-Def.

There are no new special features in this release, so if you already own this title on DVD, I would advise against upgrading like I did."

It's a great movie and looks great upscaled plus I read the review above and that kept me from double dipping. it has a naturally grainy 70's look to it so I doubt the blu ray will be much better than the dvd. plus the DVD has an awesome "making of" documentary on the second disc

Devil's Rejects is a sort of sequel to House of 1000 Corpses and 100X better as a movie. It flows a lot better, has a terrific mixture of menace and humor (and even some emotional poignancy), and the final sequence with Lynyrd Skynyrd's Free Bird is one of the best juxtapositions of visuals to music. In other words, it is TOTALLY worth it.

I disagree that the blu doesn't look much better than the DVD. On my 50" screen, there is definitely a significant upgrade and the grain resolution is a lot better than it is on the DVD.

But see if you can also order the SE DVD, which contains a HUGE production diary (almost 3 hrs, I think) that covers almost each day of the shooting, and it's great fun.

Anyone? The German blu-ray has better audio and transfer. However it's supposed to have a "warble" in the audio.

The German release has worse compression than Lionsgate's old MPEG-2.

Devils Rejects is by far Zombies best film imo. House of 1000 corpses is basically the same movie as TCM: the next generation, both Halloween films he did were awful and Lords of Salem was alright... I'd say $9.99 is a good price for his best film.

Agree that DR is his best film by far. Disagree with Lords of Salem, I thought that was awful. Will never watch again and it's one of my only purchase regrets (and I buy a lot of garbage that I find mildly entertaining). I think I enjoyed House of 1000 Corpses more when it first came out because it was like the intro to Rob Zombies movies. He brought his style to the table for the first time and it worked at that time. Repeat viewings, I found I liked it less but it was still decent. Personally, I enjoyed his first Halloween film, the second one was meh.

For the OP, I'd buy both House and DR because they're both relatively cheap and House sets a good backdrop for DR.
