Default Sony 40S4100

Was just at Target and saw that they carry this TV for $999.00. Seems like a decent price for a 1080p TV that is 40". What can you all tell me about it?

This unit doesn't use the Bravia engine, if you could step up to the V series 40V4100, I think you would be happier. You can find the V series online at Amazon for the same price, I think you would be happier with that one, and just wait a few more days for the delivery. Also the Samsung 550 model is $917 on amazon, it would be just as good in every way, and give you some of the options that sony doesn't offer until you get to their higher models.

Go with the 40v4100 or if you can squeeze out some more money for the kdl40w4100.

This is my TV. Can anyone provide suggested calibrations for it.
Call me crazy but the "vivid" setting oftentimes looks best and provides the most detail. When I self calibrated using filters etc. it appears too dark for the most part. Thanks.

The bravia engine is on every sony tv 40 inches or above except the S. The bravia engine is the video processor to help make SD sources look better and help processing of any other sources.

Your best bet is to go with the V series or W if you are that interested in 120hz. The V series has the Bravia engine and is a very good tv. For 120hz go with the W series. But you cant go wrong with either one. I would pass on the S series.
