I will try and post some pics I think people will get a kick out of. Just wondering if you consider Blu and Home theater a Toy?

I, too, get a rush when I know I am expecting a package. I think thats the only reason why I order... just so I know something good is coming to me and I have something to look forward to. My blu-ray collection is my pride and joy right now, next to what is coming home next (my TH50PZ85u).

Ever check the order tracking on your orders? Pretty neat to see when it left the warehouse, all the checkpoints in and out, when it gets to your town. Pretty cool stuff!

Sure it's a toy.

It's a really expensive toy, and I intend to treat it much more delicately than I treated the toys I had as a child, but make no mistakes about it, for me, it's a toy.

To me, buying Blu-rays is a total waste of money. Lets say you pay an average of 20.00 a disk and you own 200. Obviously you spent 4000.00. How many times will you watch those movies compared how many times you will stare at your collection. To me they only do me any good wen they are in the player. Or you can spend 4000.00 and watch 800 movies once by renting. And BTW nothing lasts forever and there WILL be a new medium eventually. And you WILL have to unload your whole collection

I have never unload any collection I have ,I still my entire Dreamcast collection of games at least 125 ,2 units and acessories ,my dvds are packed away as well as vhs tapes ,my original xbox, playstation 2 and games I liked .
To me renting is a waist of money when you can wait and buy the movie used for an extra 5-10 dollars (average rental price 5.00) and then have something to show. Any true hobbiest will defend his hoppy , why because it makes him happy and to me that is money well spent. As far as the new medium goes,BIG DEAL,By that time I will prably have over a thousand movies, will I look at all the money I could have had,NO , I will look at all the fun I had with my hobby. And that is what is most impotant GOOD MEMORIES!

I agree with some other comments and refer to it as a hobby over a toy. I love collecting blus and building my collection. It is pretty much what I spend most of my cash and I feel proud that I have gotten a decent collection. Movies are my passion and what better way is there to experience them by using the wonderful power of blu-ray

Do you also feel the same way about Vinyl, CD, SACD, and DVD-A music recordings?

Collecting Blus isn't nearly as expensive as my other hobby of building street cars. I have well over $30k invested in my 2003 Vette, and it was well worth it. I look at Blu Rays as the cost of entertainment. It costs about $10/ticket to go to a movie nowadays, plus another $10 for a Medium Drink/Medium Popcorn for me and the fiance' and thats not to mention gas to drive to the theater. When you average it all out, buying a BD really isn't that bad of a deal. If i buy a BD and watch it more than once, i feel that it has paid for itself. Plus i can watch a movie in the comfort of my own home, which is something i prefer now.

People that complain about pricing should never have bought a BD player in the first place. This is next generation media, its going to cost a little more.

Renting makes sense to me, but only if you're doing it through Netflix/Blockbuster and have a rental plan. Last time i was at my Blockbuster they wanted like $8 to rent a PS3 game for a week, and i believe it was over $5 for a BD.

I dunno... I love owning BD movies and I enjoy adding to my collection. I haven't unloaded a single DVD, either. Well, that's not entirely true. I have given a few away to some very appreciative friends. It will be a long time before my BDs match my DVDs in number, but there's something about owning movies. For the most part, I buy movies that I have already seen and like. Only a handful of blind buys, seriously.

Someday, Blu-ray may be in "everybody's" house (like DVD). For now, we're in the time where it's still fun to "demonstrate" HD video and Blu-ray movies. Owning titles which are rich in PQ and AQ is just fun! Maybe it will become an "everyday" thing for everyone in the future, but for me, it will always be fascinating.

More like a hobby than a toy to me, but, on the flip-side, I'm like a kid in a toy store when I think about upgrades and the future purchases, both with equipment and BD titles. Speaking of which, my new Polk T90e speakers should be arriving tomorrow via UPS! Tomorrow evening should be fun!

Then when i say that i bought a Japanese anime for 50-80$ he freak out saying i'am crazy. Yeah sure Whatever.. like you didn't pay 70$CAD for the Black Album lOL!

Just IMO. I am 44 and sitting on six crates of Vinyl, 2 cases of cassettes, 1000 cd's 8 boxes of VHS, 450 dvd's and I just do not see an end to all this collecting. When I die I cant take it with me and It's becoming just TOO MUCH stuff!! How much is it worth? Depends on who you talk to. I am spending my money on seeing different places around the world...and renting Blu-rays.
