Default "Veggie Love" Ad Banned from this Year's Superbowl

From Comcast.net...

Quote:
Everyone knows that steamed veggies are good for you, but what about steamy veggies? As far as the NBC network is concerned, the latter are a big no-no when it comes to advertising and the folks at the animal activism group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) have their broccoli in a twist over it.

What's all the animal-friendly agitation about? NBC has banned a PETA-produced commercial from running during the Super Bowl because of its racy content. The commercial, called "Veggie Love," touts the libido-enhancing properties of a vegetarian diet and features scantily-clad ladies (scantily-clad vegetarian ladies, we're assuming) getting, um, up close and personal with some of the more humble members of the plant kingdom.

According to PETA's Web site, NBC's vice president of advertising standards sent an email saying that the spot "depicts a level of sexuality exceeding our standards" and needed to be edited to remove offending moments like "licking an eggplant" and "rubbing pelvic region with pumpkin."

PETA, master publicity hounds that they are, have responded to NBC by posting the “Veggie Love” video on their website and alerting the gossip columnists of the NY Post. The PETA rep told the paper:

"PETA's veggie ads are locked out, while ads for fried chicken and burgers are allowed, even though these foods make Americans fat, sick and boring in bed."

This isn't the first commercial NBC has nixed from running during the Super Bowl. Another ad about a matchmaking service with an adulterous twist was vetoed as well.

Click here to watch the "Veggie Love" video and judge for yourself.
