the systems are both built the exact same, except for what you already stated: the elite has 120gb hard drive and comes with an hdmi cable and black finish/black controller vs. the pro's 60gb and white finish/controller. no difference in internal components.

Get the elite.

You well find yourself wanting that extra 60gigs of space fast.

especially if you are buying game ad ons like rockband tracks, map packs

and renting movies and what not.

Plus the free Hdmi.

PS, Dont make the stupid mistake and making Microsofts repair center your only option when it brakes, becuase it well.

Get it at bestbuy, get there PRP along with it.

I'll second that even for the Sony's. I had one laser go out on me during the 1 year manufactures warranty. Then another after the warranty expired, luckily the guide on this site let me fix it for $80 instead of the $150 it would have been.

Buck up and get the extended warranty from a brick and mortar. If anything were to happen it will be WELL worth the money.

There's also a bunch of sites that show how to get the Jasper chipset. Google it and good hunting!

Agreed. Unless you're a download junkie, 60 gigs is all you'll ever need. And the HDMI cable can be had for less than $10.

I bought the elite when it first launched, I still have the 120 GB hard drive and I still have 90 GB free, and I download basically all the free content I can get my hands on. Even if you don't need the extra space I'd still get the elite, rather be safe than sorry, maybe you might find the marketplace to be really awesome and want to download a bunch of tv shows etc.

my vote = Elite

Paying 100$ for 60 gigs of hard drive space and a 10$ cable is an extreme ripoff.

Unless you are downloading movies and full games that 60 gig of space will be completely unused. Map packs and Rockband tracks aren't going to fill up the 20 gig hard drive much less 60.

I'd go with the Pro, no questions asked.

i have an elite, but since the recent upgrade to 60gb i'd go with a pro since that's plenty of space and spend the extra $100 on games, extra controller, or an extended warranty. just me.

Also a reminder

Another reason why you would want the elite and its 120giger is becuase of game installs to hdd, You still need the disc in the drive, but with hdd installs, its quiter, and faster

Without question

Get the Elite.

Would an Arcade and a 120GB from Circuit City be cheaper/better then buying an Elite? Even at retail it looks like it should be $50 cheaper.

200 (Arcade) + 150 (120gb HDD) = 350
Elite = 400

Not counting the $2 HDMI cable =P
