Default Is there a difference between Denon 2309 and 889 (and 2308)...

except the price?

889 is listed at $799, 2309 at $849 and the 2308 is on sale at BB for $499?

2309 would give you discrete command codes over the 889 and be the later version of the 2308...I think its a better choice than the 2308 or 889.

When I look at the specs in the link above, Denon shows the 889 and 2309 to be exactly the same. They don't have comparisons between them and the older 2308 model. But that price looks pretty good to me.

The 2308 does not decode Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD MA.

What are "discrete command codes"?

if i remember correctly, the 2308 only had 2 hdmi inputs. im pretty sure the 2309 has....4?

I'm sure there are wattage differences too, with the 2309 surpassing the other 2.

Okay, but I have IPTV and Blu-Ray as my HDMI sources. What else is there as a source that I am not thinking about?

All three are rated at 100 watts. None have THX certification, but is that really neccesary? My speakers aren't THX certified.

What about the 889? When CC gets to 30% off it'll be $605, including tax. That is less than the 6ave price for the 2309 with a 25% off code. I am not seeing the difference between these two on Denon's web site.

THX is a george Lucas sound setting that is specified by him, doesn't mean your speakers have to be THX to enjoy this setting. It is the same with the THX settings for your display. Just wanted to make that point.

I would go with the 2309 but the 889 is almost identical in every way other than the build quality, 2309 metal front 889 plastic.
