Okay, this article just really ticked me off this morning.

It shouldn't tick you off. Obviously enthusiasts "have interest" in Blu-ray, but perhaps the sales of players and movies/other titles show that it's not penetrating enough.

The industry is down despite what hollywood was hoping would be the savior, blu-ray.

I don't think he's an hd dvd fanboy but I guess anyone that doesn't praise what we like seems like a fanboy to us.

What a rediculous statment. Anyone who bought HD-DVD or blu-ray back when you still had both to choose from...... is by definition an early adopter.
I'd bet at least 90% of people who bought hd-dvd have already adopted blu-ray.... because that's what early adopters do.

People who can't understand the appeal of blu-ray are most likely low-tech late adopters who didn't even get a DVD player until they weren't able to rent VHS at the video store anymore.

i agree, its not that people dont "have interest" its just that everybody has the mindset of the sky is falling right now when it comes to the economy, and blu ray can still be considered a luxury item when compared to dvd. most people now have dvd players, and they are content with using them while things arent great, im sure once we see a turnaround in the markets, more people will begin adopting the blu ray format and it will begin to creep more and more into the mainstream, the author of the article wasnt hating on blu ray, he was just pointing out that it hasnt taken off yet like the industry was hoping it would

His statement had nothing to do with the fact that someone picked HD-DVD over Blu-Ray back when the war was raging.

What he meant was the fact that some HD-DVD 'enthusiasts' couldn't accept the fact that the war WAS over and HD-DVD lost. So they forge ever onward throwing everything that they can get against Blu-Ray in an effort to slow it down.

It's the Scorched earth scenario. If they can't have it, then noone will enjoy it.

Take a look at the goal post shifting that's been happening, first it was noone will buy a player at $400. Then it was noone will buy a player at $300 and the price keeps on going down. Not to mention the fact that the VUDU junkies are hyping it up in the extreme thinking that it'll be able to take down Blu-Ray.

My point is that people who read an article like that one.. and the first thing that pops into their minds is "must be written by and HD-DVD fan" is just a paranoid projection of their own emotional involvement in a format war that 99.9% of the world just never truly cared about.

Hmmm... I didn't read any pro HD-DVD in the article, he pretty much states the fact that the economy is not helping Blu-ray which is true. Most people right now are not going to buy anything that's considered a "luxury" so they will stick with DVD for now. Even if people are sticking with DVD the companies are still going to lose money, just a reality in the current environment. That's just the facts right now and will change once we see the light at the end of the tunnel (as in a previous messages states) and people will start buying again.

That.... and the fact that DVD sales as a whole have been on a slow and steady decline since long before the economy tanked. Blu-ray IS gaining market share..... but they are gaining share in a market that was in a steady decline before blu-ray ever even got here.

All CC's, Best Buys, Walmarts, and Targets in both Greensboro and Winston Salem, NC. were sold out of all there BR players for almost two weeks. finally found an Hhgregg that was sold out of everything except 2 Sharp Aquos

To the average person, high-definition entertainment is still brand new in their minds. Most people still don't know or understand what blu-ray/hd,dvd really is. To them, blu-ray just started since the end to the format war is about a year ago. Lot of people still don't have an hd tv yet.

not at all. The problem is that BD is selling extremely well, it is doing better then DVD (did you read the news that TDK is at almost 3M copies) and growing fast. There is no excuse for any reporter that did at least a half assed job of research would be talking about how "one seems to have much interest in Blu-ray". Also what kind of crap is "the expensive new DVD format pushed by Sony". there are players that are cheaper then upscaling DVD players and it is not Soy's format but the BDAs. I am sorry but to assume this joke of an excuse of an article is anything but anti BD drivel just shows your own bias.
