Angry I'm switching "every HDMI is the same quality" cables for some actual quality cables.

Ok so i made a mistake and actually purchased a few HDMI 1.3B cables from Ebay and they do work however every now and then I get a error message on my screen saying that "The HD Repeater has been compromised,etc.,etc.,etc." and from what i've read online that means that the HDMI that i'm using isnt HDCP compliant. True or not I truly believe cables do matter. So, I am considering switching out EVERY HDMI cable in my home to these:

Good idea or bad idea?

I cant tell if these support up to 120HZ and 64bit color though. Any suggestions?

HDMI is HDMI, it all works. The marketing crap is the "supports 120HZ!!!"...total crap. 1's and 0's...you can't mess that up...it works or it doesn't.

Same option, much cheaper.
I've never had problems with any of my monoprice cabling. Your current problem could just be poor build quality. Monoprice is much cheaper, and just as good, if not a little better, quality than what you linked to.

You sure about that ??? there is such things as crap cables.........

When the signal was sent out over the cable, its performance was measured on a Tektronix DSA8200 Digital Serial Analyzer. The argument goes like this: it may all be 1's and 0's, but what is being sent over that cable is electric current. When too much data is sent over a shabby cable, the device on the other end can't tell what is a 1 and what is a 0. The end result is video that is either jittery, full of digital snow, or flat-out not there

pittsgutta, take a look at Blue Jeans cable (BJC Belden Series-F2 or Belden Series-1 HDMI cables) for a great HDMI cable that doesn't cost a fortune.

Do the Monoprice thing if it has to be cheaper, but they get you on shipping.

lol hdmi all do the same thing unless one has like pure gold wires on the inside or something..

1.3a vs 1.3b they all do the same thing.

people said GET 1.3A or else u cant get HD codecs or something, but i have hdmi cables from like two years ago and theyre 1.3b and i get TRue HD and HTS-MA or wahtever hd codecs.

If I'm not mistaken, the cables only have a Category 1 and Category 2. Its the device port that has the 1.3 version applied to it.

In most cases, a Category 2 cable will get you what you need. There are differences in quality of cables. This may or may not affect the signal. People who say its just ones and zeros are correct, but that transmission can get garbled along the path. This "interference" can occur at the player, cable or TV.

I design Voice and Video over IP networks and latency and jitter can affect the quality of the audio or video that is passed down the line. In some cases, a wire that was not terminated or punched down correctly could cause issues, although the rarest of situations. If the cable, however, is not constructed to the specifications to transmit the data efficiently, this could cause errors.

Just my two cents. I'm not looking for an argument, just stating my opinion since I do not specifically and any engineering experience in HDMI.

BTW, I'm running all Blue Jeans HDMI cables in my setup.

I will easily chime in for Monoprice or Blue Jeans. I have both. I use Monoprice for my short runs and Blue Jeans for my 45 foot HDMI cable. They all work beautiful. I don't think Monoprice shipping it too off the mark. I just had a bunch of 25 foot ethernet cables sent via priority and from CA to FL it was $11 to ship. They sent it in a flat rate box so the price is fairly accurate.

Monoprice for shorter HDMI cables and for some longer runs; Blue Jeans for your out of the ordinary lengthy HDMI cables.

OP: Your fault for not buying Monoprice.

If you get a bad cable you just call and tell them and they mail you a new one, no charge.

Another happy monoprice cable owner here. For about $5/cable, you can't go wrong.

This is one of my favorites here. Why would an HDMI cable need to support 120Hz since that's done in the TV and not even sent over a cable?

You know Monoprice just loves forms like these and others at Blu-ray.com. Free advertising.

But Monoprice is the best place to get your HDMI cables

All of my cables are Monoprice or Firefold, I have never had a problem with them. I think I paid 6.99 for the 6 Ft.
