Default I'm so disappointed in my uncle...

He bid on Bose speakers today. I never felt so disappointed at a person in my life. How can I get him to stop biding?

certainly not a popular opinion, but I would say they're basically the same thing.

Let's not turn this into the 1 Millionth "Base Bashing" thread. Unless this guys' uncle takes you hostage and forces you to listen to his speakers, what do you care what this guy buys

My parents have a Bose reciever and speakers. This thing is so old, it does not support DTS from DVDs. I've told my parents repeatedly that when they go Blu that s**t will not fly and that they need to buy a new system.

Your probably right. But the thing is, at $400 the Quint's are priced about right. Bose are just ridiculous.

Wow.... Bose isn't the best equipment you can buy for the money.... but seriously...... aren't you over reacting QUITE a bit if you have "never been so disappointed with someone in your LIFE." Who earned that money? Him or you? Let him spend it how he chooses.... seriously! How do you think he would feel if he knew you were sharing with the internet at large how "disappointed you are with him?"

Default Harsh?

Give him a break... If you never knew, people have preferences, maybe he likes Bose speakers for its convinience, flexibility, ease of use, and most importantly, amazing customer service. My parents also bought Bose, did I complain? No, because its a system that even my little brother can use. Everyone has their preferences.
All you can really do is maybe help him audition other speakers. Give him reasons why to look at others. Steer him in the direction of what he wants out of his speakers. If he wants the things I said above, then Bose is high up on the list. If he is going for pure sound quality then look elsewhere.
As others have said, its his money. I've learned to quite like the Bose system my parents bought, and while I won't be buying Bose in the future, they are really easy to use and have great customer support. I have played around with them at there are no frequency gaps (with the jewel cube systems anyways). I would say they go from at around 30hz to 18khz which is not bad.

My stepdad is a big Bose fan. He's said when it comes time to replace his Yamaha receiver and speakers, it will be Bose. I have tried to explain to him that there not worth the price and for half of the cost you can have something much better. I have even tried to demonstrate them at the store. But he still prefers Bose. But I am not going out of my way to force him into a better brand. It's his money and as long as he likes it. That's all that matters. Hell, if someone gift them to me, I would take it...
