![]() X-Blades X-Blades is an anime-inspired hack-and-slash action game, featuring a heroine armed with guns, blades, and magic. Long, long ago, in an age that only the gods can now remember, the universe was ruled by two powerful beings that were revered and worshipped by all races - but the ‘brotherly’ relationship between these two creatures was always in question from the beginning of time, simply because no one knew who the real number 1 was. While the Enlightened was on the side of good, helping his people how and when he could, the Dark One was quite the opposite, full of hate and devilish works - and so the never-ending battle between the Enlightened and the Dark One persisted for centuries. Humans suffered terribly thanks to this constant combat between the two – combat which shook the universe to its very core. Finally, thanks to a trick, the Enlightened succeeded in banishing the divine power of the Dark One, imprisoning it in an Artifact - but in doing so, the Enlightened lost his own divine powers, because the two divine beings were inseparably linked to one another. This is how two Artifacts came to be hidden in a huge Temple - and how the Enlightened prevented the downfall of the entire universe. However, these two artifacts contain total, absolute power - both good and evil. Any human being who comes in contact with the powerful stones will be horribly cursed - and the power of darkness will once again be awakened. The game begins when a map which has been lost for countless years suddenly turns up - and it shows the location of the artifacts. The adventurer Ayumi starts searching for the immensely valuable stones. Powerful forces against which she is helpless threaten to awake in her body. Now it's up to her to discover what the secret of the curse is - and at last defeat the darkness. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Maximus; 02-13-2009 at 06:21 PM. Reason: resized and rehosted screen... |

from the video ive seen it looks like your typical hack and slash not doing anything particularly special .. may not be a bad game at like a 40 dollar price but unless it got glowing reviews 60 is too much especially since sacred 2 is just around the corner

Okay, this is going to sound like I'm overexaggerating and that I have no credibility when it comes to reviewing games, but that's not true. I can enjoy a game for what it is. I enjoy hack-n-slash games, I really like Devil May Cry 4. God of War is awesome. Heavenly Sword was good.
But I forewarn anyone looking to purchase this game; don't. Just don't. It's honestly one of the worst games I've ever played, if not the. There are absolutely no redeeming qualities about this game to speak of. $60 for a trashbin-destined title like this is the real tragedy here, I couldn't even recommend it at $10. It's typical hack-n-slash action, with some shooting thrown in and the typical magic use. Graphics are lacking to say the least, the story (and cutscenes) are brief and tell you NOTHING of what's going on (which could be a good thing, because the voice acting is atrocious). Each "level" plays like an instanced battle where you basically enter a room with a bunch of enemies, there's a bar in the bottom right corner showing how far you are to killing every enemy, and along the way you collect useless little power-ups. You can heal at ANY point in the game by just going to the menu and using a heal option (costs a few "points" or whatever you are collecting throughout the game). It's so mind-mendingly boring once you realize that's all this game is; a bunch of instanced battles one after another, you literally will finish one, open a gate, go into another battle, repeat. I suppose if your idea of a good time is running into an uninspired and horrible designed open area, having 100s of enemies attack you while you spam magic and knife them down (shooting is horrible in the game, you can't aim beyond "locking on" to an enemy", then maybe you'll get something out of it. But it's literally nothing beyond that. Garbage. |
