Default Polk PSW 125 Subwoofer

What do you guys think of this sub? I know it’s not in the same league as the HSU or SVS subs, but if it could be had for around $200 new, I wonder if it would be much of an upgrade from my Yamaha YST-SW216?

My other equipment includes a Kuro 6010FD, Denon 988, PS3, Yamaha NS-C90 center & Polk RTA-11TL fronts & monitor surrounds.

This is almost exclusively used for movies.

Thanks,

Shemp

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=82555 Thread for polk subs.

Personally, I'd look at the deepdiscount special that BD has posted elsewhere, the Bic H-100 or the PA-120 in that price range.

I dont know if you have a CC by you but at mine they had the psw125 for $131 on the sticker and I couldn't figure out if you get 10% off that cause of how crappy they had everything labeled.

but check there if you have one around you.

I bought a used 125 last year for $175, upgrading from an Onkyo 10" HTIB sub. I think you'll find it a nice upgrade from your Yamaha.

I just watched Master and Commander (fantastic DTS HD MA soundtrack) and definitely no complaints on the sub's performance.

For $200, you could get a better sub. For $250, an even better, larger sub. For $350, the eD A2-300.

Yea, thats where I'm seeing them at discounted prices. The one nearest me has 2 at 30% off their $399 price I think. I was just wondering out loud how far down they would have to discount to be a good deal on whats probably a so-so sub.

yeah I'd wait see if they hang around till 50-60% off if not i'm sure you could still find it pretty cheap.

seemed like while everything else was going out the door at mine they had tons of amps, speakers, dvd players, so I'd wait.

Its a decent sub but for 50 bucks more you can get a nice velodyne and mine sounds so good. The Polk is still a nice upgrade though over the Yamaha.
