Default I cant figure out this Onkyo 606 with Polks

Please help me, ive done research and i am still stumped. I got the onkyo 606 ,polk rm650's and a ps3 with 2 hdmi cables. I got one hdmi from my receive to the ps3 and an hdmi in from the tv to hdmi out of the receiver.

Now my problem is with the polks. Im lost on speaker wire, i have some regular old monster speaker wire and having a tought time splitting the wieres and sticking them in. How come its so hard?and i dont see any cable for the subwoofer where it says subout on the receiver.

Is there a step by step to how to set this up? i really suck at audio. thanks for any help

Use an HDMI cable to connect the PS3 to one of the HDMI inputs in the back of the receiver. Then use another HDMI cable to hook the receivers output to the back of your TV. Hold down the power button on your PS3 for 10 sec. You will hear a beep and then the PS3 will come on and show you a little setup screen. Use this to set your TV res and audio settings. Go into the PS3 menu and make sure that it is set to PCM for BD playback.

Well.... just split the wire towards the end in two.... one of the two should have writing (like MONSTER in white, etc.) and one should be blank.... just make sure you plug the one with writing into either the black or red on the back of the speaker, and if you use the one with white writing for "Black" on the speaker, connected it to "Black" on the receiver...

as far as sub.... I'm not sure what sub you have.... but I'm guessing just any RCA plug on LFE out on the receiver, into "In" on the sub (Right or Left, makes no difference)

I have the polk rm650's and it comes with that 8 inch sub. Do i have to buy an RCA cable for it? it didnt come with one.

Also my speaker wire doesnt have writing. I dont even know if i had the right speaker wire, it had the plastic stuff on it. and i ripped it off to split the wires but they are hard to stick in and some wire fell off.

Polk RM6750 you mean? They use spring-clip terminals on the speakers. If you have 14ga or thicker wire, they're kind of hard to fit in. Strip the wire, twist it, and stick it into the spring clip, making sure not to mix positive and negative. The sub CAN be wired with speaker wire, but don't do that. Get an RCA/shielded subwoofer cable. It'll allow you to have more flexibility on your settings.

If your wire is simply too thick, there are pin connectors that you can use to terminate the wire that'll work with those spring clips.

yes rm650's . Yes the speaker wire is probably too thick huh? its so hard to stick in the speakers and the receiver. Also i think i messed up the positive and negative because i didnt know about that. So i guess i definetly need the RCA cable for the sub to get this setup going.

thanks again

It shouldn't be hard at all to stick in the receiver. Make sure you read the manual on it.

wire will not actually go in to the receiver. basically all you are doing is sandwiching the speaker wire between the metal connector on the back of the receiver and the screw.

roughly 1.5" of bare wire is all that's needed! Unscrew the thumb screw, place the 1.5" of bare wire between the screw and the receiver and clamp it down by screwing the clamp back. that will create the connection between the wire and the receiver.

1.5" is a LOT of wire.... You need maybe 3/4 of a inch I'd guess..... but you'll see.

good luck!
