This eBayer reported me for leaving Positive Feedback

Problem Solved!
He didn't know what emoticons were.

Lesson: Contact seller whether they know what emoticons are before leaving them in feedback or... don't leave them at all.

Here's what I left to the seller... I have never heard of someone else yell at a 14 year old.

Fast Shipping. Item as Described. A+ Seller and Transaction!

The seller came back to me and said this...

Why in the world did you leave that annoying feedback. what was D about my transaction.
I payed $1.29 for that envelope & $2.75 for the postage. That equals $4.04. I lost $1.04 in the postage.
In addition to that you payed $10.50 for a movie that I payed $35. in Bestbuy.
Look I hope that you see how really uncalled for the feedback that you left on my record forever.
Don't expect me to leave you any positive feedback either. And in I WILL report you to ebay for ABUSE OF POWER. You got a great deal and in record time.
For no reason.....WHY?

He reported me before I told him what that really meant. He probably didn't understand what meant and I explained to him. The next morning, I woke up... checked my email and then he said this...

To start I never said anything rude I simply stated facts. It Is against eBay policy to leave a positive feedback along with a negative coment. Besides i looked up all your history of feedbacks and I found that this is not the first time you do this. You messed up a nother seller's perfect 100% for no apparent reason. You have already been reported. Please be advised that you are not allowed to bid on any of my items ever again.

Sure, it may have been my first time leaving the smiley face there... but how is that a negative comment?? Nothing affected his feedback score... it's still 100%. Then he actually did report me before solving the problem. I never did mess up another seller's 100% feedback. I only left bad feedback for those who didn't reply to me, didn't ship the item or whatever reason. What should I do?

Update 1: I have directed him to this page and this is what I had to say to him/her...

about your understanding on smiley faces...

Don't get mad at me, but I had to find some way to get you to
understand what truly means...

Please understand. I don't want to start an argument. I just want
you to understand what this means. You may not be familiar
with smiley faces and emoticons, but this is the truth. I am not
trying to sabotage your feedback. Please, please, please... don't
report people without solving the problem first.

Just emailed eBay. May you send some links to your feedback page, so I can show him the feedback you left for other sellers? That would make things easier.

that's pretty much the same feedback i leave for people when i'm happy w/a transaction.

my advice is don't worry about it.

Yes, I did apologize and explained. Then... he came back at me saying bad things.

Two possibilities:

1) He was confused; or

2) You lied and left him bad feedback.

Yeah, I've got to assume he left the feedback on the wrong person. Still, I would keep emailing him until he returns your email and apologizes.

I'm pretty sure the guy left it on the right person's name. The smiley face wasn't showing up so all he saw was the colon : and the D, which would turn into on most computers, but he probably saw it as text, and thought the D was a final overall rating.

I'd be upset also if my transaction with you was rated a "D".

In all seriousness...as soon as I read your post I figured he was a fairly new ebayer. And sure enough, his feedback is at 74. I've been on ebay since the very beginning and can spot 'em a mile away.
