Question Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay: Is it worth buying?

I'm thinking about ordering the Blu-ray of Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay from Amazon, and for anyone who has the Blu-ray of Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, could you tell me if it's worth adding to my collection? Thanks!

I've only seen it once... but I kind of felt that while it had many hilarious moments it wasn't as consistently funny/well made as the first.

Still there is a lot of hilarious parts and if you really loved the first you should at least rent it.

I have both films on blu. First, these were very inexpensive purchases on blu for me ($10). That said, I love the films. I like the dirty humor and main characters. Obviously the second film is even more over the top and outlandish, but it's certainly fun and has some good jokes.
Both are good films to have on hand when you have company. Certainly get GB at the lowest price you can.

The PQ & AC are more than sufficient for the type of film this is.

I really love the first film. I have gotten so much replay value out of the DVD. Was super excited for Guantanamo, and was there in the theater opening night...and I despised it. I think I laughed maybe twice, and my hatred for it was so strong that I haven't revisited '...goto White Castle' since.

Also, IIRC, the Blu-ray version suffered from pops if you are internally decoding the DTS-HD MA track, and I don't think WB ever resolved this (correct me if I'm wrong).

Yes it does, but only if you have your system setup to decode a 7.1 track internally IIRC. PS3's for example if you go into setup on the sytem and set it for 5.1 the pops stop.

As a film, I thought it went over-the-top trying to outdo the first one (a la American Pie). However, many people liked the second as much as the first.

From a BD standpoint, I thought it was of okay quality. Not spectacular, but certainly not bad.

Definately a blind buy, I liked it more than the first.

Have to buy it just for the "********** party"

If you forget to switch to 5.1 could the pops damage your speakers or receiver?

If you are a fan of the first one, then you will enjoy this one also. Of course it also depend on how much you can get it for.

Thanks for the quick responses, everyone! I borrowed the DVD version of the movie from a friend and it was hilarious! And now I've just ordered it on Amazon for a really great price! Thanks again, everyone!

Mods, please close this thread.

On more opinion - the first was one a lot better! I personally don't want to see the second one again. It got some laughs but overall, pretty weak.

If I was buying comedies, I'd get all the judd apatow movies first!

White Castle - great!

Guantanamo - I found it not funny at all and actually gave up on it about 20 minutes in - rare for me as I'll usually stick it out to the bitter end.

Seriously do the chose your own adventure, and have it so that Harold & Kumar dont go to g. bay. Its funnier than most of the main feature.
