the new york post is reporting that she is brain dead...they are the only ones, though....

funny how the reporters are reporting it....she hasn't wearing a helmet, and they are all over that aspect....I've skiied and snow-boarded for most of my life and have never worn a helmet...I don't see any beginning skiiers wear helmets...

You really should wear a helmet, though. I snowboard frequently, and I do not wear one, but as I've gotten better of the recent years, I've really had a couple close calls where I said to myself "I really need to be wearing a helmet." I've got a couple insanely good friends who swear by their helmets.

I really hope she is alright. I will keep her in my prayers, no one wants to see a head injury like this happen to anyone.

I hope she's alright.

There have been a number of accidents in Ontario as well this year {in the last month or so} that have resulted in serious injury/death while skiing.

I find it hard to believe since she was only using the bunny hill and was fine for the first hour or so after the intial injury and only then felt discomfort in her head in the form of a headache. Though the New York post is nothing but a rubbish rag so i wouldnt put it past them putting that in the story to be hopefull of another couple web hits!

That is how it happened. It's on Fox News now. They said she was on the bunny hill and fell and hit her head. She seemed fine afterwards and even turned down going to hospital. Later on she complained of feeling ill and had a headache. They are reporting she is brain dead now.

It's entirely possible with a head injury to be awake and alert only to end up brain dead hours later. Fox news is reporting she is brain dead as well... and they are rubbish as well.... so let's hope both Fox and the Post are incorrect on this one.

Natasha Richardson, the actress wife of actor Liam Neeson, is believed to be critically ill after a skiing accident.

The 45-year-old suffered head injuries at the Canadian resort of Mont Tremblant on Monday.

Neeson flew to be by her side at a Montreal hospital. Reports suggest she has since been transferred to a hospital in the US.

Richardson fell on the training slopes but did not show signs of injury until an hour later.

Internet rumours of Richardson's death were untrue, said a family spokesperson.

The agent for actress Vanessa Redgrave, Richardson's mother, confirmed that Neeson had left the set of his latest film, Chloe, which is shooting in Toronto, to be with his wife.

Redgrave is looking after the couple's two sons in New York.

'Very distressed'

The couple married in 1994 after appearing in the film Nell.

A member of Richardson's family, who spoke to the BBC but has asked not to be named, said the whole family was "very distressed" by the incident.

The statement from the Mont Tremblant resort in Canada said the actress "fell in a beginners' trail while taking a ski lesson".

"She was accompanied by an experienced ski instructor who immediately called the ski patrol," it continued.

"She did not show any visible sign of injury but the ski patrol followed strict procedures and brought her back to the bottom of the slope and insisted she should see a doctor."

The actress was later taken to the nearby Centre Hospitalier Laurentien before being transferred to the larger Hopital du Sacre-Coeur.

A spokesperson for the hospital in Montreal could not confirm whether the actress was still there on Tuesday morning, but suggested her family might make a statement on Wednesday.

The Press Association, however, reported that the actress had been treated and left Canada on a plane for the US.

Part of the Redgrave acting dynasty, Richardson is the daughter of Vanessa Redgrave and director Tony Richardson, and the sister of Nip/Tuck star Joely Richardson.

She has starred in a number of Hollywood films and acted opposite an 11-year-old Lindsay Lohan in 1998's The Parent Trap.

But she is better known for her work on the stage, winning a Tony award in 1998 for her starring role in Sam Mendes' Broadway production of Cabaret.
Seeing that BBC is NOT reporting her to be brain dead, I imagine that's just very cruel rumor making circulation right now.

Entirely possible. I had a friend who played hockey and during a hockey fight he fell to the ice and hit his head. He got up, was bleeding out the nose but demanded to keep playing. They wouldn't let him so he went to the locker room, undressed, waited for the team, and just as they got back from the game he passed out, went into a coma, and died that week.

I know of a 7 year old child who fell off her bike and hit her head on the curb. She seemed fine and then died in her bed that night. The brain can't stand much bleeding or swelling before serious injury results.
