Received an email from Borders, in it there is a link that selected Blu-ray Disc are 20% off; here are some examples of their so called sale prices:
Forgetting Sarah Marshall $42.99; Wal-Mart $26.33 Burn After Reading $42.99; Amazon $25.99 Death Race $42.99; Amazon $26.99 Now not every movie is $42.99 Jarhead is $30.99 but then again Amazon has it for $14.49 And Borders management wonders why nobody shops retail anymore. |

their movies are MSRP (just like barnes and noble). this is a common discussion. if you don't like the prices, don't shop there, simple as that
![]() but don't be so quick to write them off. sometimes they host B2G1's that when combined with coupons (and especially if you are a member) can be great deals.... Last edited by Sussudio; 03-21-2009 at 02:36 PM. |

We all know that we don't have to shop there, that is a moot point. MSRP is set by the manufactor and not the retailer - so why is Borders and Barnes over MSRP? They are lying about MSRP. There is no single title disc BD with an MSRP of $42.99?
Amazon and Tower etc. list the MSRP for a single title for $39.99 and below and then they discount of that. Death Race has a MSRP of $39.98 everywhere else - so where does Borders get off saying it is $42.99. |

I have never purchased nor have ever seen a remotely reasonable blu-ray
price at Borders---- but that doesn't mean that all "retail" pricing is bad-- other stores offer much better prices (Target, Best Buy, etc) ultimately though it is no secret that Amazon and the like are the most consistant on "best deal" pricing |

Agreed, but retailer that do this just help reinforce the stereotype that blu-rays are just too darned expensive when compared to DVDs (though their DVDs are usually outrageously over priced as well).

(i.e. the price gap at borders for bluray/dvd is similar to price gap for bluray/dvd at amazon) |

The shame of it is (sort of) that there are suckers out there who buy their DVDs and BDs from these book stores and support this massive overpricing. If no one bought from there, they would be forced to ditch this section of their store or lower their hideous prices.
