Just wanted to take a second to note what a wonderful job Mr. Brown did on his latest review for Venture Brothers Season 3. I sometimes find that reviews on this site can be too long and opinionated, considering your viewers are looking mostly for insight of the blu-ray technology as oposed to the films/shows themselves. The Venture Brothers review on the other hand was exactly what I'd hoped for...short and too the point, while focusing mainly on gauging whether or not the show will appeal to the reader, instead of trying to condone or dismiss the whole thing baised on one reviewer's biased. Of course all of this is just my opinion...but I figured I'd share. And by the way, thanks for running such an awesome site!

Thought his new review up for Bolt was good too. I liked that he included the target audience (young children, in this case his 4-year-old) in his perpective of the film review. My 4-year-old daughter loved this movie, and cried at a certain touching scene for the dog (won't spoil it). It's a must-buy in our household.
Cheers, Ken! |

I want to thank those in charge of bringing Kenneth Brown to Blu-ray.com.
I have read all of his reviews since he was brought onboard a few months ago and I find them to be wonderful. While I don't always agree with his scoring, I always find them useful when I am considering a rent vs. a buy. Mr. Brown has a knack for passionately explaining his likes, dislikes and observations for a story, directing, acting, video quality and audio quality without appearing to take sides. His (sometimes) harsh criticism of a studio or transfer are always clearly explained, and not justified. Equally, his praise for some releases is humbly admitted, and acknowledged as such. I find his reviews evenhanded, fair, honest, refreshing, and most importantly, entertaining. I watch movies to be entertained, and I find myself looking forward to Mr. Brown's reviews as entertainment as well. His approach and wit are not missed by me. Even when he has a harsh word, or super-praise, I don't sense condescension toward a studio for it's practices, nor do I sense fanboy worship toward a particular film. I have read and enjoyed his reviews on movies that I dislike, and that says something for his reviewing and writing skills. Again, thanks to those who reqruited Mr. Brown, and thanks to Mr. Brown for the entertaining and balanced reviews. I look forward to your next review. |
