I just bought mine yesterday, even after many people said the blu-ray edition was horrible. I work at Blockbuster, and I knew about the history of the movie and all, so it was in my mind that the film had a limited budget. Anyway, upon watching it, I must say, the movie looked and sounded 10xs better than the special edition dvd came out a few years ago. I'm just wondering why so many people were downing the movie. BTW, I am a huge Boondocks fan, so I will always defend this movie.

I does have both versions but hardly any extras, but it is anamorphic,my old DVD was not,I had to ajust the pic size to have it fit my screen,i'm not a big fan of "windowboxing" on my HDTV! Will pick up if the price really lowers, too expensive now im afraid. Love the movie though,Willem Dafoe at his wackiest!

I have the original non-anamorphic version and the steelbook edition. I almost bought this on St. Patty's Day to keep with my annual watching tradition, but couldn't justify the triple-dip (really more of a double-dip, given the horrible quality of the original non-anamorphic version) at $25, even for as much as I love this movie. The Steelbook edition looks great up-converted (I <3 my XBR-960), and will get me by until next year when the prices of BDs will hopefully be lower.
If you have only the non-anamorphic version, the BD is worth the upgrade. If you have the Steelbook, it's worth waiting for the price to come down under $20, IMHO. |

I would agree. I just watched it again today, which makes 3 times since i got it 2 weeks ago, and am still shocked that it was given such poor reviews. I thought that the PQ and AQ were both top notch considering the movie wasnt made with a Transformers budget. All time favorite for me, and it definately didnt disappoint me

Yeah, I think what Clark Kent said is what the Blu-ray.com review was trying to say. That is, that the movie on Blu-ray doesn't look as good as other movies from the same time period, not because of the transfer but because of the source material.

I got it on first release and I think it looks fantastic.
Well, it surpassed my expectations put it that way. I didn't read the review so don't know what the fuss is about, but since I've already seen it and am very very happy I don't really care to read it.. Whats the point? |
