Default Boondock Saints blu-ray

I just bought mine yesterday, even after many people said the blu-ray edition was horrible. I work at Blockbuster, and I knew about the history of the movie and all, so it was in my mind that the film had a limited budget. Anyway, upon watching it, I must say, the movie looked and sounded 10xs better than the special edition dvd came out a few years ago. I'm just wondering why so many people were downing the movie. BTW, I am a huge Boondocks fan, so I will always defend this movie.

Same here. I got it right when it came out and thought it looked and sounded great. I was shocked at the blu-ray.com review.

I does have both versions but hardly any extras, but it is anamorphic,my old DVD was not,I had to ajust the pic size to have it fit my screen,i'm not a big fan of "windowboxing" on my HDTV! Will pick up if the price really lowers, too expensive now im afraid. Love the movie though,Willem Dafoe at his wackiest!

I have the original non-anamorphic version and the steelbook edition. I almost bought this on St. Patty's Day to keep with my annual watching tradition, but couldn't justify the triple-dip (really more of a double-dip, given the horrible quality of the original non-anamorphic version) at $25, even for as much as I love this movie. The Steelbook edition looks great up-converted (I <3 my XBR-960), and will get me by until next year when the prices of BDs will hopefully be lower.

If you have only the non-anamorphic version, the BD is worth the upgrade. If you have the Steelbook, it's worth waiting for the price to come down under $20, IMHO.

I would agree. I just watched it again today, which makes 3 times since i got it 2 weeks ago, and am still shocked that it was given such poor reviews. I thought that the PQ and AQ were both top notch considering the movie wasnt made with a Transformers budget. All time favorite for me, and it definately didnt disappoint me

As a low-budget movie shot by an inexperienced director, the Blu-ray looks about as good as the movie ever will in 1080p. Not every movie can look spectacular in HD.

Yeah, I think what Clark Kent said is what the Blu-ray.com review was trying to say. That is, that the movie on Blu-ray doesn't look as good as other movies from the same time period, not because of the transfer but because of the source material.

Ibought this on day one and have probably watched 8 times already. The transfer is great for such a low budget film. Can't wait for All Saint's Day!

I got it on first release and I think it looks fantastic.

Well, it surpassed my expectations put it that way. I didn't read the review so don't know what the fuss is about, but since I've already seen it and am very very happy I don't really care to read it.. Whats the point?

Bought it a couple of weeks ago and I have been very impressed. The AQ was great, and the picture is better than I expected from the reviews. Leaps and bounds better than the DVD it replaced.
