Default 850 GB on a DVD

See: http://physorg.com/news4249.html.
I guess it really wouldn't matter much. Before they are ready BD's will be at 200GB or more. Obviously 850 is more than 200, - but a complete new standard allready at that time and for a factor of just 4. I guess not.

Still the article might be interesting for some.

It probably could be used for special purpose datastorage for buis (backup), - but even there I guess an all standard of the shelf (and then probably somewhat cheaper) 200 GB disc is more interesting than a special 850 GB.

well it uses red rays which is basically dvd. If such technology is really feasible, then blu rays con store 2.5TB as in 100 layers. Clearly too far ahead.
