Default Rob Zombie's Halloween

Good Afternoon my brother's in blu. I'm pretty sure this thread might've been done before, but, anywho, let's do it again if it has [sarcasm]

Anyway, as some of you know, Hollywood has run out of any ideas and decided to attack or "remake" the Classic Horror films of our time. Friday the 13th, Halloween, Halloween 2, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and possibly Nightmare on Elm Street.

Now let's be real, is it really worth doing this kind of injustice to these classics??? I someone both disagree and agree. Yes it sucks for the old school movie goers like us, but for the new generation, half of them don't know who Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, Leather Face, and Fredy Krueger are. You've got dumb movies like Prom Night, and all this other crap.

What are your thoughts on Rob Zombie's attempt of Remaking the John Carpenter's Halloween and Halloween 2. Apparently, he's doing some changes in Halloween 2. But honestly, I really enjoyed Rob Zombie's interpretation, yeah of course, it was more about how sick Michael Myers was when he was a kid. But the original movie, the things thats scared everyone, was cmon' the MUSIC. The Score, the little sound affects when Michael Would appear in the film. NOW I COMPLETELY disagree, with Zombie attempting to remake a classic like Halloween 2 and change the Classic SCORE, if that happens, I guarantee, I will not watch it. But give him some credit, I believe the first remake went more in depth on how demented kid Michael Really was, eventhough the script was 90% identical to the original, the little added, perversions of sick michael myers, made is even scarier in my opinion. What's your fellas? Let me know?

who cares if it gives it injustice. If you liked the classic version, no new version is going to do any harm to the classic. If a movie has a chance to be remade and ends up being good if not better with the technology we have today then why shouldn't it be given a shot. If it sucks than so be it who cares?

Who Cares???? Avid movie goers, who love the movie? Take something that you grew up with and enjoyed, and someone 20 years later wants to put "their Touch" into it an ruin it? How'd you feel? E.I. Remaking a Classic Muscle Car, Re-Making a Classic Tv Series, etc.

the script was 90% similar to the original? in my viewing, i didn't sense that, but i could be wrong.

i loved how he focused on mike's early years, but then why, oh why, did he have to have mike kill everyone and anyone? i was ready to see mike break into the white house and kill the president. it seemed really silly.

the original was more logical to me: he has a rub with promiscious women (who he sees his sister as), and any innocent boyfriend-bystanders who are in the wrong place at the wrong time. that was a core of mikey, and detracting from that, is detracting from mikey. of course, just my take.

I agree, they made it into a slasher film, but they whole up bringing of michael myers was good, but then, what else was it about, at the end of the day, the original was a slasher right?

Meh. I'm not sure Zombie "delving" into Michael Myers psyche really illuminated anything new. The first 5 minutes of the original Halloween sufficiently explains how f'd up Myers was. I think concentrating on it for 2 hours was tiresome and confusing. Are we to sympathize with this kid simply because he endured a white trash upbringing? It's heavy-handed to say the least. I'm not really looking forward to any of the remakes Hollywood is hashing out. Even Zombie's "original" movies seem tired homages to other/better movies and continually casting your trashy wife in lead roles is even more distasteful and stubborn. Spend more time on the script people!!

i have. while there are the same characters who say the same things (for the most part), there are also new characters, and new victims (which is my main point here). a new victim means a new mike. he had a killing pattern, IMO. that's just my take.

IMO acting wasnt that bad, but I didnt feel it a remake, it was like a prequel gone bad. Halloween is one of my top 5 movies ever, and I didnt like this remake.

Yeah no bull, his wife is hideous in my opinion! But anywho, I think it was a good movie. The first movie showed a kid in a clown out fit, killing his sis, then some wierdo breakin out of the hospital, that was pretty quick, but really, come to think about it, that just about did it as far as story line back in the 70s

As stated in another thread.

Michael Myers is a cold, calculating killing machine with no rhyme or reason.

Michael Firefly is a trashy rocker dude that had an abusive past and he's taking out his anger on everyone to appease his angst.

I dunno man. When i see him in that clown outfit as they pull off the mask and he's just staring out with those dead eyes and that big knife in his hand, i get more chills from that one scene than all of Zombies movies combined. Sure, it's not an oscar winning storyline, but Zombie "digging deep" and doing a character study is hardly warranted either. I just wonder what he thought he was accomplishing with that angle. Empathy, Sympathy, or just a lazy way to show us how evil he was? Sorry, but we already knew Myers was pure evil, no need to shove it down our throats or attempt to romanticize it.

The fact that every character in his movies are low life scumbags really bothers me.

But to turn Micheal Myers into a low class redneck with Rob Zombie's white thrash wife for her mother...that made my blood boil.

0 out of 5 for me. An insult to the original.

Everything he touches has to scream "incestuous hillbilly". It's his way of making it his own.

gotta disagree here-- I don't recall everybody saying !@+$# every other
sentence for the first half of the movie!

I thought the movie was crude and vulgar-- a remake of a classic filmed
by somebody from a trailer park...
