Default Friday 13th Part 3 Discussion

This just in from the digital bits. Friday the 13th part 2 and part 3 are coming to blu-ray this July to coincide with the release of the remake. It's gonna be a good July! See link below:

Okay, let's have another update on Paramount's catalog Blu-ray plans for 2009. Our industry sources are now telling us that Fatal Attraction is coming in June from the studio, with the second and third installments of Friday the 13th following in July.

So I guess they'll be waiting longer on the box set. I went ahead and bought 1 and I will get these when they come out, along with the remake, which was a fun movie.

If there's going to be an entire set comprised of all 10, I'll get it. The last 3 were some of the worst films I've ever seen, but they're still Jason flicks. The 3rd is one of my favorites, Vera gets it in the eye from Jason now with his new hockey mask.

Highly unlikely, considering parts 1-8 are Paramount and the last 3 have been Warner/New Line.

Agreed. More than likely have to buy two sets (like you do now on DVD).

When I went to pick up the Paramount '8' on DVD, I noticed a 3 pack set from New Line with 'Hell', X and FvJ in it.

Probably wind up doing the same thing on Blu.

Got 'em already from England. Including today I've had two F13s to enjoy them on!

I will only get these if part 3 has the 3-D version included. With these being delayed in the states for this long, there is no reason for it not being included.

They were probably just waiting to release these at the same time the remake hits Blu. I bet these will be the same as the UK releases.

Doubtful.

The UK didn't even get the 3-D version on DVD. Where as we did.
Even though they got all the new extras except for that version of the film.

Except for the reason that the original 3-D was from the polarized revival of 1982-83, when they were using projection-only systems that can't be reproduced in home video, unless it was completely remastered from scratch for either red/blue, or for some new system that hasn't been announced yet (and probably won't be until Dreamworks fools around with "Monsters vs. Aliens")

...And from all reports, it isn't.

Except the SD DVD has the 3-D version, so it is in a form possible to use with home video. I don't know if whatever home video master is even close to HD standards, but there at least IS a home video master.

From all reports on Amazon, the SD was remastered for red/blue (ie. "rather badly"), and unless Paramount announces any revolutionary leap in digital 3-D--which they haven't, as yet--seems that's the version we'll get up-ported.
At least it's better than MGM's "Amityville 3-D", which only kept the title.

(Oh, a geezer like me's getting sentimental for my old 80's high-school days...Back when 3-D movies were good, cheap studio sequels, not overbearing Dreamworks CGI irritants.
But again, if we are getting the next generation of digital-3D for Blu, it'll probably flagship first from one of the overbearing Dreamworks CGI irritants...)

Friday the 13th Parts 2 & 3 Announced for Blu-ray
Posted April 13, 2009 09:40 AM by Josh Dreuth

Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the first two sequels to the legendary horror franchise 'Friday the 13th: Part 2' and 'Friday the 13th: Part III' to Blu-ray on June 16th. For both releases, video will be presented in 1.85:1 1080p AVC accompanied by 5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtracks.
Actually looks like they're coming mid-June to me.
