Arrow Robin Hood (2010) Review Thread (Spoilers)

Synopsis:
Quote:
MIt is late 12th century England and Sir Robin Longstride, Earl of Huntington, (Russell Crowe) has returned to his northern English village after fighting in the Third Crusade. Upon arrival, the nobleman and his servant discover the oppression caused by the new Sheriff of Nottingham (Matthew Macfadyen). Sir Robin uses his intelligence and military skills to free his home village from tyranny and corruption in England, by taking back what is rightfully his, and by taking back what rightfully is theirs, to restore justice and happiness to England. Robin must also win the affection of the recently widowed Lady Marian (Cate Blanchett) while leading his Merry Men of Sherwood Forest to victory and fairness.

Should be a very good movie. The role of Robin Hood seems tailor made for Crowe. It looks like he lost some weight for this movie.

He looks ok I guess. Personally I think Costner looked more 'midieval' and updated than Crowe's look. No tights there either.

Crowe looks awesome, he was just on Letterman 2 nights ago and I noticed he had that great Gladiator look. I'm glad him got back into shape and shaved that mane, he looks more intimidating without the hair. He's going to stomp the shit outta Prince of Thieves.

I really liked Costner's version of Robin Hood growing up, but I have hopes the Crowe-Scott version will be one I like the rest of my life.

PS. Comparing just the photos, I like Costner's costume more, it looks more returning-soldier than Crowe's (assuming that story point still applies).

It's how I'd picture Robin Hood, just needs the hat on his head and he'd be set. But I'll be seeing it when it comes out.

The crowds of Nottingham forest chant!

"Maxim Hood!" "Maxim Hood!" "Maxim Hood!" "Maxim Hood!"

Its Gladiator meets Robin Hood.

There’s a strong 9 out of 10 this will be booked in at the Empire Leicester Square, so its worthy of seeing Crowe up on the biggest THX screen in the UK and the biggest 56KW JBL THX sound system.

Agreed. Probably my most anticipated movie. I just love Ridley Scott epics especially when you add Crowe.

At least Crowe can muster up a British accent, I imagine - should be worth checking out!

The dollar theater in town took this off about a month ago, but I checked the show times today and looked at Tuesday and an Closed Caption version is going to be playing. Is this one worth watching despite the fact that's going to have English subs through out the whole film?

Speaking of French, I was able to pick up some untranslated profanities in the film. Just thought that was interesting that they didn't use subtitles for everything.

Wow that is awesome! He definitely has the look of an archer instead of a homeless man with lots of scarves! This is totally badass!

I saw the trailer yesterday, but it didn't really do it for me yet. It was just a collection of scenes and Russell Crowe riding a horse most of the time. No semblance of plot or story. Guess I'll have to wait till a second trailer to get me excited.
