Earthsea was cut by over an hour! - Blu-ray Forum

I just found out that the U.S. release of Earthsea has over 70 minutes missing?!!! Wtf do they release movies this way? No wonder some things in the movie didn't make sense and the movie not flow well!

I'm going to try and import the uncut Earthsea and give this film another chance.

Wow. So the movie might have been significantly better.

DVDs should tell you when they're missing huge parts of the movie.

The SyFy one which was a Canadian production IIRC.

What's worse is there's this DVD of this TV series that specifically says uncensored or uncut or something along those lines on the back cover, but it was actually the cut versions! The company's explanation is that they were the syndicated versions and they didn't have the rights to the truly uncut original broadcast versions ... which is fine by me except for the false advertising on the back!

amazon UK has some sellers that sell the uncut Earthsea at a reasonable price and shipping but it's region 2

o and my understanding is that it ran in the cut version on SyFy. The cut version is IIRC 172 minutes (which adding commercials matches the 4 hour air time on SyFy) The uncut is apparently 243 minutes ... I presume that's a PAL run time which would mean the uncut is in NTSC actually like 251 minutes ... which is like 80 minutes missing!
