OPERA: Mozart "Die Entfuhrung Aus Dem Serail" - disappointing - Blu-ray Forum

Great singing from Kurt Rydl as "Osmin" but that is just about all to recommend this release IMHO. It is performed to the camera but no audience in Amsterdam and it shows. The orchestral sound is miked ok but the soloists are remote with echo in the empty theatre.

I read a review of another opera suffering this problem so maybe also done in Amsterdam under similar recording conditions. Sorry but I cannot recall which one it was. Costuming is modern for some but Turkish harem for others and this did not come off for me.

Not recommended.

I absolutely agree with your comments. I described the same problem in the review. For some strange reason, the hall-effect was quite disturbing.
