Default Dark Knight USA vs European Blu-ray

Hello,
I'd like to know what difference in quality there is in those 2 versions. I suppose the UK content is the same, if it was, the European version has more languages, does it that less bitrate is dedicated to the video? EU v. costs less for me in €.

Is there a site I can compare bitrates? There's cinemasquid that has very detailed information but only for US releases

The UK is missing the BD-Live content. The PQ, etc is identical.

So what IS the BDL-content? For 'The Dark Knight' that is. I'd like to know.
I have the UK-version though, that's why.

Rounding out the bonus content are Warner invitations to participate in BD-Live and to unlock a digital (non-high definition) copy of The Dark Knight. The BD-Live features include "My Web Commentary", where you can use your webcam and create your own PIP commentary over the film and share it with friends and the entire BD-Live community. It also includes "Live Community Screening", which Warner bills as "an on-screen chat with the filmmakers while you watch the movie." The BD-Live "Media Center" is advertised to have exclusive footage, trailers, photo galleries and more.

Hm, seems like some fun stuff, but not really necessary.
Except the last thing, for example the "exclusive footage" I'd like to see.

And a thing with the trailers... would you know if there are also any in the "offline" bonus-material?
Because there are these 3 trailers I ever downloaded in 1080p HD.
One was a quite short teaser-trailer I guess, where you see the Bat-sign break down
and hear Alfred and I think also Bruce talking.
But the two other ones were quite impressive and fun full-on trailers to me.
I kind of hope they're on there, I didn't take a look at my BD yet.

But thanks for letting me/us know!

I have the US edition but will sell it and get the UK instead. Sure, the BD-Live stuff is fun and all but the UK has Japanese subtitles, while the US doesn't. Japanese subtitles is a very important aspect for as it's the main language we use in the household, so out with the US and in with the UK...

On the North American Blu-ray, it has all 3 trailers plus a bunch of TV advertisements. On top of this, there's a hidden easter egg with the third trailer. If you punch a certain code in right after selecting Trailer 3 from the menu, it will play the Jokerized version of the trailer (which is hilarious). The Jokerized version was part of viral marketing before the movie came out in theaters. Here's the Jokerized trailer:

Obviously, the Blu-ray version is better because it's in high def.

Well the version I got in the UK came with a free USB stick with the bat logo on it. Far more useful to me than some BD-Live stuff.

Throw in some goodies. Play has some Play.com exclusives from time to time.

Do you mean that the US-version has that (through BD-Live or not) over the UK-version?
Or are you just saying that's also what it has without BD-Live anyway?
Thus probably on the UK-version too...

Hm, that can be useful.
But I think, to me personally, that's about as useless, as I already have my storage-stuff.
Nice collection-novelty to have though.

I think I'd rather have some significant extras through BD-Live though.
But not that I care for like... I don't know, those chat-things and all.
Probably more meant for fun than substance and probably is.

I would rather have had that USB stick than BD-Live stuff, which I NEVER use.

Does anyone own the Hong Kong release? As per numerous rumours, it has a DTS-HD MA audio track.

I haven't compared the whole movie, but the european PQ is sightly better, the colors seems more spot on. A friend who owns both confirmed this.
I don't really care because the aspect ratio change is to me f-- distracting.
I'll stick to upscaling the bad looking DVD (but with no metamorph aspect).
I know I'm in the minority, and that the majority enjoy a movie where aspect ratio change from one shot to another in the middle of a scene. But I won't vote with my wallet for such stupid release.
They really messed up this release real good. At least one person should say it

It has been confirmed that it is the same disc as everywhere else, and has a TrueHD track, not a DTS-HD MA track. All the companies that listed DTS made an error.
