Default Def. Tech Mythos SSA-45/50...anyone have/heard these?

I'm contemplating getting the dt mythos ssa-50 speaker bar for my bedroom. I've read reviews online and just wondering if anyone had it on here and their thoughts.

This would be a more enveloping soundbar. It uses the same technology as the Polk Surround Bar 360 except it doesn't have it's own receiver, which is fine. You can get a cheap receiver that does HD surround and 7.1 so you can add back surrounds if you wanted (or not) and possibly add another subwoofer plus you'd get the HD surround. The Polk bar is really a great soundbar and is the only soundbar I can recommend from experience.

you won't be disappointed in the XL Gems. I have the reg Gems and they pump out amazing sound (even a fair amount of bass) for such a smal package. Kinda funny, I'm on my way out the door to pick up a supercube 3 myself.

Don't know where your located, but there's a store in North Lima, OH that has 20% off all Def Tech products. The Speaker Shop. They have a website too, but you'll have to google it. I dunno if they ship or not. But a 'cube 3 for $540 is too good to pass up.

So I found one of these that is barely used and had less than a month. Problem was it got scratched all up and cover ripped. I bought it off ebay for $150...speakers said to work fine....looked in great shape. My cousin who I live with use to paint professionally so he is going to paint it. I have 14 days to return it if I'm not happy. Figure I can order a speaker cover for it also or just go without. $150....I couldn't pass it up...especially since I'm able to return it if i'm not happy with condition its in.

Well I'm overall impressed by this speaker bar. I like the fact that I can add real surrounds for 7.1 setup. The thing is about as long as my tv and weighs in around 40 pds. Sounds excellent coming from my temporary receiver I'm using...can't wait to put it to the test with the Pioneer Elite SC-05 i'm getting.

Good to hear a soundbar success story!

That's a hell of a deal at $150, even with visual imperfections. What size room did you put this in?

It's not a soundbar...speaker bar. An $1100 retail speaker bar (amazon is currently selling them around $550 today...think its for today only or this week then the price goes back up). The ssa-50 actually requires a receiver to power it (up to 175 watts per channel) and allows for 7.1 with addition of 2 real surround and a sub. I have pics of my bedroom in my gallery...i'm not sure of the size but the pics should give a good idea. I was looking for the best space saving sound as opposed to having floorstanding speakers (which I did have). I'll be matching this speaker bar up with dt supercube 3 and dt mythos surrounds. Here is a pic of the speaker bar that I put in my ht forum also.
