I can see it now, it comes out to UHD and people start using it as a demo disc. It might be so clear and perfect, people will think their TV is really a wall with paint drying on it.

That's the whole purpose. It was in protest of state-mandated ratings in the UK. In the US, you can bypass the MPAA and release a film unrated. In the UK, all films released (for profit) HAVE to be submitted for a rating. Which costs around £1,000 to submit.

The...director, if you will, did an AMA on Reddit about why he did it.

£1000 to watch paint dry...not a bad fee I suppose.

The BBFC also can only watch/review 6 hours of film a day, so they had to split this movie into a 2 day ordeal.

£1000 is ridiculous IMO.

Christopher Nolan is doing the sequel. 12 hours of paint drying. Morgan Freeman and Michael Cane will explain how the paint is drying in voice overs.

I hope they keep those IMAX scenes intact for the Blu-ray. It does have IMAX, right? because watching paint dry requires it, otherwise you're not getting the full experience.
