Default Good Omens TV Series

Good Omens: Neil Gaiman, Amazon and BBC working on TV adaptation

Quote:
Good Omens, a collaborative novel written by British authors Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, will be coming to the small screen via Amazon, BBC Studios and BBC Worldwide. They're working on six episodes, with a 2018 premiere in mind. The episodes will debut on Amazon Prime Video, before later reaching the BBC.

With Gaiman’s much-anticipated American Gods adaptation on the horizon for Starz, and with the recent success of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, a similar sci-fi comedy adaptation from fellow British humorist Douglas Adams, the omens are indeed good for this fantastical story to receive its own TV treatment.

Good Omens tells the story of the approaching end times and follows characters who are either bent on avoiding the apocalypse or actively seek to bring about Armageddon. From an unlikely partnership between an angel and a demon, to a hospital mix-up with the birth of the antichrist, this tale is both dark and hilarious. Touches of both Pratchett (the end is predicted by The Nice And Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch) and Gaiman (the harbingers of doom are the very modern Four Horsepeople of the Apocalypse) abound.

“Almost 30 years ago,” explains Gaiman, “Terry Pratchett and I wrote the funniest novel we could about the end of the world, populated with angels and demons, not to mention an 11-year-old Antichrist… It became many people's favorite book. Three decades later, it's going to make it to the screen. I can't think of anyone we'd rather make it with than BBC Studios, and I just wish Sir Terry were alive to see it.”

Gaiman wrote the scripts and will serve as showrunner, as well as producing the series alongside Caroline Skinner (Doctor Who), Chris Sussman (Fleabag), Rob Wilkins (Choosing to Die), and Rod Brown (Going Postal), representing BBC Studios and Narrativia.

Good Omens was previously adapted by BBC Radio 4, with Peter Serafinowicz and Mark Heap in the cast. Please could we have them back for the TV version?

I can't wait to see this
Currently Lucifer is on Fox (I know he didn't write the comic but it's based on Sandman version)
American Gods is coming later this year to Starz
How to Talk to Girls at Parties is getting a theatrical release later this year.
It's a great time to be a Neil Gaiman fan!

Anything with Tennant is worthy.

The book was great. Sort of a hybrid of The Omen and Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

There’s a reason they’re using Queen. In the book, there’s a running joke about Queen’s “Greatest Hits” album.

I just found an entry on Amazon for a Blu-ray release. No release date yet, bu it's good to see a streamer putting out discs of its shows.

The BBC are showing it 6 months after (*allegedly) it has streamed - I suppose that will push the Blu-ray release.

*"Allegedly" for time-frame, not for showing on the BBC!

I could be wrong but I think this was a request on Gaiman's behalf. A lot of people were asking him on Twitter about not having Amazon Prime and he said something about a physical release happening.
Again, I'm going by a few comments on twitter so I could be wrong

I watched the first episode. Not sure how I feel about it yet. It pretty much rides off of the interplay between Sheen and Tennant. The writing for everyone else isn't that good.
