I thought Ebay doesn't make you send the item back if its a bootleg.

Unless you can easily prove it's a counterfeit and the seller acknowledges as much, you'll likely be expected to send it back. Which is only fair to the seller, since if the seller wasn't aware, they might want the item back to figure that out, or to dispute the claim that it was a bootleg.

Fortunately, the buyer doesn't need to pay return shipping in that case, though I agree it is a hassle to have to send it back. Also, obviously in your case it seems like the seller is purposely selling counterfeits, so they'd probably only resell them, and as such I don't think are owed much fairness. However, I can see why that protocol exists.

The only 'technical' way to prove bootlegs is by checking the disk capacity and checking the lasered info along the inner ring on the bottom of the disk.

Manufacturers, far as I know, will go for a 8.5GB disk and have a unique engraving lasered along the inner ring on the bottom to detail the product.

Custom jobs are 4.7GB disks and will have something different.

I can almost guarantee that the seller knew he was selling bootlegs.

Stay clear from t.g. shop or whatever. He clearly sells bootlegs and is now telling me he contacted eBay to revise the feedback I left because they offered me a refund without returning the item. He claims to get all his media from some company called Ingram Entreanment. I sent him a replying stating if I were to buy another Disney movie and send it directly to Disney would they claim it's authentic. I told him I noticed the negative reviews sourcing several buyers claiming bootleg. If he wants to go to war, I will. Not going to let some guy selling illegal copies bully other users into not warning people about his bad practices.

I'd call Ingram if you really want to check things out and ask them about the burned discs just in case for some reason they don't know, but possibly to let them know someone is throwing their name under the bus

He calls them Ingram Entreanment so he obviously has no idea what he is talking about then. I would call them but not like they will do anything since he misspells it probably on purpose. Thanks for the heads up on it being a legit company though. Since I told him I would have no problem trying another order and sending it to Disney to verify it's authenticity he has not responded at all.

While that's clear in this case, their official policy has to reflect something more reasonable that at least gives sellers recourse when a buyer claims something isn't as described (or, in this case, counterfeit).

I have no problem with this policy. What I have a problem with is their clear tolerance for seller accounts they know are selling counterfeit product that they choose to do nothing about.
