If I remember right, BD built some speakers with Fostex drivers. Keep us posted.

I have two Mission 70c2 center channel speakers, and have been considering making a center using the 4 drivers and using a single wharfedale tweeter out of a 9cc center channel that I received with purchase.

I really love my Polk CS350LS in my living room, trying to achieve similar results.

My question is, will I be able to wire the 4 drivers to keep 8ohm stability? I was told by a friend they could be wired in series/parallel at 8ohms assuming they're 8ohm drivers....like so....

And isn't the tweeter the main component for timbre matching?

I'm currently running just the single 70c2 with my system, and it's remarkably close in timbre match, just thought using the Wharfedale tweeter would be key

This would be for my br setup, I looked at the Wharfedale 9cs, an 9cm, but I think I'd be happier with a custom center.

Thanks in advance for any input!

I have a question I have a Yamaha BR10 PA speaker which damaged voice coil wires to the speaker terminals.. I was wondering how to repair this? They don't seem to want to take solider too well and I used some solider paste on them..

2nd is the tweeter horn the holes for the particle board have enlarged and the screws don't hold the tweeter in now, so I was wondering how I can repair this?

Default Statement Build

My buddy built these speakers. This is me standing next to them (not a great picture but it gives you a sense of scale. Im about 5 9). They are the Statements found here: http://www.speakerdesignworks.com/Statements_2.html

Weighing in at over 250 lbs each you can imagine these speakers have a big sound. The drivers are Dayton with a Fountek ribbon tweeter. Just had dinner over at his house last night and they sound amazing. Big, tight bass sound with two eight inch woofers. The box is ported behind the mids and at the bottom for the woofers. The mids are incased in their own enclosure. They image well. We listened for two hours and we just ran out of time.

Thanks rpatt and Billy, they are very nice looking speakers. My friend used bamboo flooring for a veneer on top of the mdf. So, very heavy but really inert. Very musical with plenty of depth.

The Statements are a deff problem. I heard them a at a DIY speaker meet a few yrs back. Can't say anything bad about them except I don't own them LOL. Your friend did a great job! like the contrast between the black and natural finish of the bamboo

Reviving a pretty old thread. I'm building a new center channel to mate with my Vintage Genesis Physics Model 10 Mains. Purchased a couple of 2 ohm 8" drivers from Huw at Human Speakers along with a custom built crossover to match the Genesis. Designed to use a true vintage Genesis inverted dome tweeter. Huw worked for Genesis back in the day and still builds replacement parts for Genesis and Epicure/EPI.
Here is what I got done this weekend.

Will update as I get further along, should have it sanded, routed and ready to start the filling, sealing, priming and painting process this evening.

Very nice start to what I presume will be one bad a$$ center channel.

Edges routed, sanded, filled and primered. Ready for paint. Hopefully I can get that done early enough to get it dry and get the damping materials, cross-over and drivers installed today. Can't wait to hear it!

First impressions: Well worth the effort and expense. Sounds excellent, better impact and superb off axis performance. The inverted dome tweeters really shine in this regard. Dialog very clear even at low volumes. Will give it a real test after a couple of days of break-in for the woofers per Huw's recommendation.
