I tried to scour through this thread but there are way too many pages, does anyone know or think there will be a deluxe edition of the Blu-ray? I'm thinking it's highly unlikely since the movie wasn't released in 3D and don't think there's going to be a super deluxe edition. This release already has a commentary from Ridley and features are about on par for an initial release.

No reason at all to think that, for the reasons you state. The days of special editions for the heck of it a year or two later are pretty much over.

This.
Fox already ran out the 6 film box set.

The Alien franchise will never be over. It just depends on how many years between movies, whether its 2 or 10.

I liked Oram, Daniels and Tennessee as well. I wish we had seen more of Oram's wife (Carmen Ejogo is such a good actress). Nope, these four aren't as great as the original crew. Neither are the characters from any other Alien movie, including Cameron's. Some of the other supporting characters are cannon fodder - I see no problem with that. It's a sci-fi/horror film with a rather high body count.

I agree with the person who said that just because Covenant isn't as great as Alien doesn't mean it's necessarily trash. Few films are as great as Alien. That doesn't make them bad or worthless, that just makes them inferior to an all-time classic, which is ok. Haters keep grasping at straws, yes.

Just another post that shows the majority of COVENANT's detractors really have to reach when it comes to why they don't like the film.
Jesus H. ****. I never said I hated Covenant. I just made an observation on the cast. Some people really need to spend less time on these forums...go outside, get some sunshine.

The sequel to Covenant was originally due to start preproduction this month in Sydney. After the box office results filming was cancelled, and a warehouse storage unit full of stuff was auctioned off a few months ago. So the original plan of pumping out another quickly has definitely changed with no immediate plans for anything.

Its not a dig at her, its just really bad photoshop with her. The Alien alone would look amazing.

This is not a re-release. The film was released theatrically in Japan on September 15th, and is being initially released on Blu-ray and UHD in Japan on January 10th, 2018:

Unfortunately, the Japanese UHD artwork is, at least for the time being, identical to the US version:

Oh my mistake. For some reason, when I looked at the movie in the db, I thought the other releases with different covers had older release dates attached to them too. I k ew the movie just came out in September there too, so I should have known better

... and much cheaper to buy an existing 5-film set, Prometheus and Covenant separate. Saw this at BB yesterday and had to laugh at the price, esp. since a couple racks over is the first 5 films for $14.99 and I think they are giving away Prometheus online.

I have the UK set of the first 4 films that don't have any of the special features. I was looking at this collection, but its probably pointless since this collection will probably be 4k before too long.

Finally got around to watching this, and thought it was quite good. I really enjoyed the scientific/biological history of the xenomorph. Really looking forward to the next film(s) in the prequel series.
