Just ordered one yesterday night, from Sams Club I believe their model# 7302. Will confirm when I get it.

Its supposed to get an firmware Update, its selling in Sams Club for $160 right now.

$160 is indeed a great price. I have the older Philips UHD player without DV and it's been rock solid for over a year...

If and when this Philips player in particular has its DV FIRMWARE UPDATE ALREADY, that's the time i'll get it because right now i'm also waiting for LG to re-release its DV firmware update for the UP970.

Seems like there is potential for noise issues.

One of the things I like about the 970 is how well it upscales DVD's, noise issue aside. Will wait a while before taking mine back. I want to see what 2018 will bring.

Just got my player, set it up, and looks good so far. I can also see the 4k Rental I had in 4k on the screen, I'll have to see if it playsback the movie in 4k. Will try it tonight perhaps.

EDIT: Saw baby driver not a single stuck/stutter so far. No loud noises, the player is barely audible. So far so good!

Have you tried any more movies in the past few days? I'm considering this one if my LG 4k player keeps giving me issues with noise. I'm waiting for it to get repaired.

By the way do they sell it in stores, or just online?

I played the following movies so far:

Fifth element,
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (chapter 10-12) to test if my disc had any issues, nothing.
Half of The Birth of a nation (no stutter so far), and this is a rental disc.

No problems playing the movie, no stutters. No loud noises. I had some HDMI handshake issues, before the movie started in one instance, but I think its because of the Logitech Harmony activity I have set up. I'll keep adding feedback going forward. I keep my player on power saving so its a complete shutdown. It takes I believe about 30 seconds for the player to be ready, for playback. The Youtube app doesn't play in 4k as I initially thought it could. The network streaming can also play 4K HDR streams, which a decent plus too.

I personally just use my players for discs (TV apps for streaming). Appreciate the reply. Hope it continues to work well for you!

You're welcome, I forgot to answer one of your questions. It is sold in Sams Club online, and Amazon, and a few more places, but yes only online so far, I don't think Best Buy or Walmart carry it in store.

If you have a Sams Club membership, it should be returnable in store in the worst case scenario, also their price seems to be the lowest.

Its not as fast as some streaming boxes, to me it works alright.

I can't tell you're being sarcastic? But I thought it was a great price, consider most of these players retail for $250 or higher.

So I played Unforgiven (a brand new disc) the other day, and chapter 4 had a major stuck/stutter moment for about 30 seconds. I tried playing again another day and it didn't happen, same on an Xbox one S, no stutter. That was disappointing. I've actually ordered an Oppo, I had high hopes for this, but I am going to go the Oppo way.

Aw that sucks. The Philips was my backup plan if LG can’t fix my 970. Wonder why it stuttered but second time it didn’t. Still a few kinks with UHD it seems.

This player has been great so far. I’ve had them all except the oppo. Just too expensive. Dolby Vision is a priority for me. I loved the Sony but sadly it won’t be getting Dolby Vision. The up970 was LOUD. Waiting for this player to get the update. Anyone know when this will happen???

I should be getting mine sometime this week. I'm hoping it will be glitch free.

I guess that since they said the update will be here 4th quarter that means it should be here by the end of the year at the latest but you never can tell with these things.
