All I'm saying is that you will notice a louder sound.

How will it be louder? You just won't hear the rear surrounds if they are not there... the sides won't be any louder.

And not to be a dick but "Top Line HD Expirience" should hardly be the title to your sig... unless it's a joke?? You have a HTIB basically that doesn't do ANY HD lossless audio, polk speakers are OK, same with your sub, you do have a decent display. I normally don't rip on people and there set-up's (we all started somewhere) but from earlier posts you have been kind of rude and that upset me. sorry.

Blu Ray Fan, my point here is that whatever speaker setup and audio receiver you have, and depending on whatever blu-ray disc u play and watch, that has dolby digital plus, trueHD, DTS-master audio, dts 6.1, dts 7.1. You will notice and difference in sound!!!

I only have 5 speakers setup and and so so receiver, I recently purchase SAW, that has DTS 6.1 audio and when compared to any of my blu-ray disc that have DTS 5.1; The sound from SAW was awesome, compared to any of my blu-ray that have a DTS 5.1 specifications.

It's the transfer. We just watched Sleeping Beauty which is 7.1 DTS-HD MA and has nothing on the sound compared to what I'm watch now which is The Departed 5.1 LPCM. I can watch Saw next (I have all 4 on Blu) and compare.

but trust me, either your imagination, or the transfer.

I'm still missing something there. Are you referring to the quality of the mix, the loudness, the clarity, the amount of speakers, lossless or what?

I am confused at this point as well

I don't understand how a 7.1 Blu would sound better then a 5.1 Blu on a 5.1 system if EVERYTHING else stayed the same.

What happened to louder doesn't equal better? Ah, screw it. I like it loud. Just not too loud. The loudness of a track doesn't mean it is better though.

I think you must have misunderstood what I said before you went on your pointless diatribe.

The only way to get 7.1 audio is through analog RCA multi-channel or HDMI.

That means my original statement you took exception to was correct:

Optical cannot carry 7.1 audio
You either need analog audio or HDMI.

Along with the other films mentioned here,

Saw IV is 7.1

And again, just to clarrify (since there appears to be a TON of pointless and false information in this thread from a specific member), there is no such thing as Dolby Digital 7.1, there is Dolby TrueHD 7.1 and Dolby Digital Plus 7.1 (which you'll probably never see). I know someone else already mentioned this, but I thought I'd say it again...

And I think Saw IV is actually DTS-HD MA 7.1 though... But yes, Nightmare Before Christmas is Dolby TrueHD 7.1.
