It’s barely a cure for 8K, as to that, for a deeper dive into the concept and practicality from a cinematographic perspective, see - https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...t#post14544289

Also from that linkedin reporter's article….”It is estimated that a doubling of frame rate leads to a 50% increase in bandwidth for the compressed video signal – so not 100% – because compression efficiency increases with the frame rate.”

As modern solutions actually need less than a 50% bandwidth increase of the compressed signal.

But alas, it’s just too early for that sort of thing to happen.

Which leads to the question, which (type) imagery resulted in the highest QoE increase?

Does anyone know/remember the answer?
Answer:
Those test samples that involved a combination of the greatest camera motion (panning) as well as object motion. Meaning that HFR acquisition and presentation will most benefit clarity of imagery like a soccer or football player running down the field covered with a camera pan, etc. Add in HDR especially when there are stadium shadows over a portion of the field and the upgrade in PQ is exquisite.

Rocky, sorry I missed your post.
Not recent, but EBU -

Has short samples for member organizations, e.g.

Other more recent material is more proprietary at this point (needing permissions) and not publicly available.

Good 'ol Warner.
Playing both sides like they did with HD DVD.

You won't be able to have releases with both HDR formats though. One or the other.

So much for "Fox will be the only studio to support HDR10+."

Also, from the press release:

Quote:
In addition, Ultra HD Blu-ray metadata generation tools have been developed with third parties and will soon be available for content creators enabling Ultra HD Blu-ray players to enter the market. Details on the content transfer and interface format for the content creation pipeline will also be released shortly.

Two things will drive the adoption of HDR10+ - the cost of licensing (free) and the cost of hardware to implement HDR10+. I assume the hardware requirements of HDR10+ is lower since Samsung was able to apply it to some of their older sets.

Also, since Disney bought Fox, we know they will also be supporting HDR10+ now. This is why Disney never jumped on the DV-on-disc bandwagon.

Things are looking great for the superior format.

Warner Brothers' statement is interesting:

Quote:
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will support HDR10+ to enable a dynamic metadata solution for Warner Bros. content to Samsung, Panasonic and other HDR10+ capable 4K HDR TVs. “Warner Bros. has always strived to provide the best next gen home entertainment experience to consumers,” said Jim Wuthrich, President of the Americas and Global Strategy, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. “With HDR10+ dynamic metadata, WB can continue to more accurately bring the filmmakers’ vision of our 2018 releases and our vast catalog of over seventy-five 4K HDR titles to the home across a broad range of HDR10+ capable TV’s.”
So their 2018 releases will contain HDR10+, but it looks like they might be planning to re-release some of their current content in HDR10+ as well.

Hmm, where's the Disney press release for that claim?

The Disney/ Fox matters haven't been ironed out yet, so nobody but an insider currently has any info about HDR10+ or Fox or Disney.

Oh, and welcome back.

Why would Disney who has strong ties to Apple be interested in HDR10+ given their 2018 plans of a exclusive streaming service with all their Lucas, Marvel, Disney content?

Do you see any love for Amazon or Samsung in this picture?
