I'm looking forward to getting this one as the only other Van Damme film I will need to complete the blu-ray collection is The Shepard Boarder Control if that ever comes out anywhere.

Save your money!

The master used for this release is a really old one and the image quality is problematic (static scanner noise, de-interlacing artifacts etc.). During the next months there is expected to be a second "remastered" version from Nameless with the same transfer but digitally tempered with in order to "improve" it and milk some more cash out of the licence before it expires.

According to Toxie from Wicked Vision Media the German rights holder will change in Summer 2018 and the new rights holder (NOT Wicked Vision!) plans to do a complet new HD scan.

So if you ar buying now you are just wasting money.

Too late. Already ordered it yesterday.

How can any company justify re-releasing any title after just a couple of months?
They should've waited and just released the 'tweaked' edition (although no guarantees they'll improve it).
Stunning show of contempt for their customers.
You honestly wouldn't get away with that in the UK.

The thing that swayed me was the original theatrical subs.
Usually they're the first thing to go on European Blu-rays.
I suspect any new HD master will lose them and I'm not sure any German distributor would go to the bother of editing English subs only for the Cantonese dialogue.
So, I wouldn't say 'a waste of money' just yet...

I will buy this release. If there is a better release later down the road, I'll pick this one up, too.

If you release it in a Mediabook, take 30-40 € retail price and tell people it is a limited edition: Oh yes, there is a profit. Add an ugly bust for let's say 60 € a piece and some people will rip it out of your hands by the dozens.

Can confirm on the deinterlacing artifacts, bit Roobarb and Custard on edges. Its better than my old R1 DVD, so good enough.

So how will we know which the new version is or when it is out? Really want to pick this up but there's no point if a better version is incoming.

There's a possibility to have the isolated score on extra for the better release ..??
The music score composed by Ron ,Russell Mael & Varouje is beautiful

Round 2: The "remastered" version from Nameless has been announced:

https://www.schnittberichte.com/news.php?ID=12864

One and a half months after the innitial release...

ATTENTION: This release will NOT carry a new transfer! Just the old one with the typical Nameless treatment. Means: DNRed, digitally sharpened, artificially re-grained.

Had a feeling that might be the case... will probably wind up looking worse.

Mediabook vs. Budget Ed.

Some improvement on MB...

But both still suffer from DNR...

I stick with the cheap release. PQ isn't that much of an improvement on the new and expensive release.
