Which was probably why the “North American version” BD was released in Japan, with the US Kathleen Kennedy/Frank Marshall produced dub in higher audio quality than the UK dub.

Really need to update the first post, but:

Mune: Guardian of the Moon was already released a month ago
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B074VBKZ4C

It looks like My Entire High School Sinking Into the Sea is scheduled for Jan 23
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0765KTMF7

And Napping Princess is scheduled for Jan 30
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0765MNMBZ

Interestingly, the above two are listed as releasing from Shout! Factory instead of Universal.

Seems like there is no word on The Girl Without Hands yet.

I got the Red Turtle and was wondering if this came with a slipcover. Mine didn't but I have other GKids with slips.

That one is from Sony unlike these new titles, but it did originally come with a slip too, it just didn't last very long at retail.

The pre-order price for Napping Princess is $14.96 right now on Walmart and Amazon. I don't think I've ever seen a GKIDS release fall this low before release.

Is Shout! Factory distributing all GKIDS releases now? I know Cinedigm and Universal did some in the past...

Would like to get digital copies with these new releases (and not whatever that was that Shout! did with Long Way North).

For now, it seems that way... Started out Cinedigm, then primarily went to Universal, though some of the seemingly lower profile ones during that time were released by Cinedigm. All of the upcoming ones are Shout! Foctory, as well as the recently released A Town Called Panic Collection (which somehow came and went without me noticing until just now), and the Ghibli re-releases, of course.

Seems like none of the Shout! Factory ones so far are being released with digital copies (the Ghibli's go without saying, but I would have expected them on at least a couple of the others).... And yeah, the deal with Long Way North was weird, but it seems like we're not even getting that.

While the situation with the Ghibli films is understandable (as Ghibli doesn't license digital rights of their films anywhere, Grave of the Fireflies is available digitally since it's not under Ghibli's control), it's interesting that Shout Factory isn't including digital on their upcoming releases even when they hold the digital rights.

For example, Napping Princess is available on iTunes to preorder. Although the Studio is listed as GKids, the copyright states “GKIDS under exclusive license to Shout! Factory LLC”.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/movie/na...s/id1328850061

Shout! Factory did recently release “In This Corner of the World” (which was released from Shout! Factory itself) on Blu-Ray with a digital copy thru VHX/Vimeo OTT.

It seems both Mary and the Witch's Flower and The Breadwinner are getting releases through Universal with digital copies included. Maybe just the higher profile movies are continuing to get releases through Universal, while the rest are through Shout! Factory.

So here's some news I missed earlier this month...

GKIDS is distributing the two new Masaaki Yuasa films from last year, plus Mind Game.

Just updated! (finally)

Let me know if I'm missing anything, though forgive me, I did not include any of the Ghibli rereleases, and just linked to the dedicated thread that already exists for that.

Is Napping Princess worth a blind buy?
I haven't seen Stand Alone Complex, but I like Eden of the East.

Birdboy coming March 13 via Shout.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0788YQMPM

If you don't count the Ghibli re-releases, that's already 5 releases in the first 3 months of the year, with Mary's release date still TBD. The pace of release really seems to be accelerating.

Considering they keep getting BD releases, I'm guessing they are getting decent sales. I wish they'd go back and release some of the DVD-only releases, like Wrinkles, on BD.

I saw birdboy at the theater recently and really liked it. I'll be glad to get a copy.

Sorry, Funimation.

Although I know that the Fathom Events screenings are pricer than the typical screening, I do hope GKIDS does a Fathom Events screening for this film (since then it would be in theaters that don’t typically distribute anime, providing more access to screenings).

I would guess that NYAV Post (which has worked with GKIDS before) or another dubbing studio would likely dub the film.
