No. My point was that DeepDiscount and WowHD (along with various other outlets) all fall under the same banner, and when DeepDiscount have a sale, you will generally notice the prices on WowHD being reduced accordingly. WowHD will never promote themed sales, so it's always best to check out DeepDiscount to see exactly what the sale is and what titles are involved (and sometimes, how long it will last).

Wow will generally always win out price-wise, though DeepDiscount are sometimes best for higher priced items (Criterions, Vestrons) and box-sets, particularly if there's a 15% coupon and you plan on ordering several items at once.

They should have released them on April 20.

Have any Wow users here ever used Moviemars via Amazon market place sellers? If so, do they ship direct from the US; or, like All Your Music (and Wow), re-post from within the UK?

I can't remember if they re-post from within the UK but i've used them quite a few times & i've never had any customs charges.

I've seen a few people say that - why is that?

I have had customs charges from them, it was a CD set that must have been shipped direct from the US. Ironically, it was one actually made in the EU!

They sometimes come with Swiss Post marks on them, so maybe get redirected somewhere, never had customs issues with them.

I ordered a blu ray from them a few months ago and they ever-so-helpfully printed the value of the item (15.01) on the shipping label. This attracted a charge of 11.00 from Customs and Post Office. After complaining to Amazon and telling them I wanted to return the item, Moviemars refunded the additional charges.

They may have changed their shipping practices but nonetheless, I've used aym on Amazon ever since.

Moviemars as long as I remember have shipped direct from US, so massive risk buying if valued over 15. Would always avoid them. You do occasionally here stories here like yours of their customers getting hit for import charges.

So the talk of Wow/DeepDiscount being the same company, is DeepDiscount customs friendly like Wow is?

I just had a Moviemars order arrive, and it had been re-posted in the UK.
The return address is the same as the return address on some Wow/DD/AYM orders:
Keymail UK Ltd, Unit 12 Saxon Way, Harmondsworth UB7 0LW

Very interesting. That's actually why I asked, because I gave up using Moviemars - who always just shipped direct from the US - years ago, when dear departed George Osborne decided that austerity needed to be applied to trivial personal imports and lowered the threshold to 15. But a couple of people I know had recently said to me that they thought MM had taken to the same "re-post-within-the-UK" wheeze as the other major US importers: and having a joint industrial unit address just outside Heathrow airport would seem to confirm as much. Odd that they never advertise the fact, though (or perhaps not so odd, thinking about it.......)

So it seems DirecttoYou which is parent company of WoWHD, DD, AYM etc have bought Moviemars.

They were definitely a separate business some years ago and I stopped because of custom risk and they went through a phase of wrapping orders only in a thin layer of plastic so no protection whatsoever to damage in transit.

Put in an order and realised I'd made a mistake on one of the items (bought DVD instead of Blu). Sent them an email within 5 minutes asking them to cancel that one item, got a reply 2 days later saying it was in the shipping process so they can't, and then they cancelled the rest of the order instead. Yep, it's the same company

Has anybody ever ordered a Steelbook via WowHD or am I just asking for trouble, would I be better off paying a little more and the VAT and ordering from Amazon.com instead? I'm thinking about those stupid little corrugated cardboard mailers they use...

Hate to dredge up the old 'timescale' discussion again, but is anyone else waiting on a somewhat-overdue disc from them?

I had a title ship on 24 Jan that hasn't shown up, while subsequent packages from 30th and 31st arrived a week ago. That's not uncommon with Wow, of course, but I'm interested to hear whether anyone else is waiting for something from around the 24th.

Has anyone here ever had any luck with pre order price drops? I ordered Umberto Lenzi's Eaten Alive! for 16 quid and it has now dropped down to 12 now it's in stock. Obviously I paid the full price on pre order. I take it WOW don't match like what Amazon do?

I just received one today. Unless you order it with something else, it gets sent in their usual weird sticky cardboard mailer things. I ordered mine with 4 other blus, but even then they came all squashed in one small box with no padding. All that said, mine arrived in perfect condition, but YMMV.
