Chainsaw didn't make $30 mil in 1974, that's lifetime gross.

As far as "hits" go, "The $225,000 film reportedly became the single most profitable film of 1974 (in cost-to-gross ratio), earning $18.8 million in North America and over $30 million worldwide."

From what I have heard, Max Baer Jr was pretty much broke when he did Macon County Line, not sure how that happened after all he was on a hit sitcom for nine years, he had to have made some pretty nice dough during that run.

I would also like Warner Archives to release Ode To Billy Joe on BD.
The other two Baer films, The McCullochs, and Hometown USA will most likely never see a BD release.
I have the old Anchor Bay dvds of those two.

Cool that the director's commentary track and the Vintage Featurette are back - they were on the original Anchor Bay dvd but were missing from the Warner Bros dvd that followed.

In seeing it again a couple of years ago, I imagine that it's the dreaded music rights since its full of pop hits of the day.
I asked the Kino guy about it sometime last yea and he said that they wanted to release it, but the music rights is the issue.

Macon County Line finally has a review up and the reviewer clearly is a big fan of the picture:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Macon...190432/#Review

It can say that I mostly agree with this review. I would probably downgrade the films rating to 3.5 stars as opposed to 4.5 stars, and I'd downgrade the extras rating to 3 stars instead of 3.5. Although I will admit that there probably wasn't much stuff to add since so many key members of the movie have now passed away. The new interview with the editor is ok, but she kind of rambles a bit. The rest of the extras is from what was on the DVD.

The picture is pretty good for this release. Just mainly a few white specks here and there, but when Shout really cares they can make a good release. The movie sounds pretty good also. I thought it was worth the 15 bucks I paid for it, but if you've never seen it I would say that it might be best to keep your expectations in check. This isn't an action filled movie. It's very slowly paced and the action is fairly sparse. It's sort of like Badlands and Two Lane Blacktop in someways.

It's one of those movies that I'd watch with people that have seen it and enjoyed it before, but I wouldn't watch it or suggest it to someone that is fairly younger and has grown up loving Michael Bay and Nolan.
