I seem to be locked out of my account, is it just me, or does it affect others as well.

Seriously, PQ is the last thing on Severin's minds. Fancy slipcovers and pins are #1 priority.
Can someone explain this? I thought Severin's PQ was always good. All their Italian releases are better then 88 Films versions. Severin was recently on the Shock Waves podcast and David Gregory went into detail about the materials and transfers of their 2 most recent releases the Amicus Box Set and Jack The Ripper. Yes as of lately them seem to be pushing the site exclusive slipcovers but I don't think that's taking time away from the work on the disc.

After a few database errors from Severin's site, was able to place an order for Jack the Ripper. I'm glad they put these up for resale since I missed out the 1st time!

Ha. Did he explain how some look terrible and some are just OK?

Severin took a couple of remasters 88 Films did and performed color work on them.

Those were a couple of good ones
but I am getting exceedingly weary of their sub par looking Blu's and starting to dread when they acquire a film I enjoy.

I got my copy of Jack the Ripper. Only a few database errors, but those were expected given the increased traffic.

So, does anyone know if Eaten Alive! got pushed back. Amazon is showing the 20th of Feb now but this site still has both the single and 2-disc sets as a go for the 13th?

They seem to be taking any old thing that's offered to them lately. Those Amicus films are owned by Studio Canal in the UK. One wonders if they had better elements than the US owners. Jack the Ripper has been a bit of a balls up in the quality department, and they used the BBC's transmission prints for Threads, when an even smaller company was able to access the CRI elements. So they seem to be doing things as cheaply as possible with minimal restoration efforts. Their last three releases are a little worrying for the future.

I just finished watching Threads, the interviews, trailers, and movie again with audio commentary. That works out to (almost) 5 hours viewing.

I had never seen the film before, nor read much before viewing it. All I knew was it was a post-nuclear war movie made for BBC TV in '84.

At the end of viewing the movie (first time), I was numb. At the end of watching the movie with the commentary, I was numb.
It graphically paints a very dark and bleak future for mankind post a nuclear war. Returning civilization to an age that I find hard to name in our history. Pre-industrial, the disintegration of written and spoken language, mere traces of technology, disease, short life-spans, starvation, ... a future that makes you wonder if Western (& Eastern & Mid-Eastern) civilization could ever recover. And if we could, would it take centuries? or a millennium?

From the commentary, I learned the film was shot with hand-held cameras (pre steady cam) and you can see that in the filming. For me, it added to the immersion in the movie, with almost a battlefield camera effect (as opposed to a Blair Witch look). The intertitles and narration give the movie a documentary feel, but I wouldn't call it a documentary. Nor would I call it a docudrama. I found it very easy to identify with, and care about, the characters and be drawn into the film.

The picture looked good, but it had a made for TV look to it (I know - it was). I haven't read enough to know what the source was for the 2k scan, so maybe this is as good as it will ever look. I could see a horizontal wobble throughout the movie that was most noticeable when the intertitles are shown. I could ignore this most of the time, and when I noticed it, it wasn't so bad as to ruin the film or anything (for me, anyway).

The extras and commentary were excellent. They added to my overall enjoyment and understanding of this film.

Numb. That's not a feeling that I get very often after watching a movie. I'm definitely jaded to the images which were presented (burning bodies, filth and vomit from radiation poisoning, oozing wounds, etc). Though these can be impactful, it was the very bleak future that left me sitting there numb (a very powerful film which overwhelmed my emotions).

I enjoyed this movie and this release by Severin.

^^ I wish i could go back & watch it for the 1st time because i had that same feeling & there aren't many movies i've seen before or since that have managed to do that.
I've still only seen it once a long time ago so i'm hoping it still has that power when i see it again. I'm gonna have to hold off on this blu ray though until i can compare it to the upcoming Simply Media dvd as that's reportedly from a much better source.
