At least that's what I tell myself for all these titles know to rot but still play for me. Knocking hard on my wood desk as I type, but this (the Maple version), Monster Squad, Basic Instinct; all those LG rotters I own are still spinning fine when called upon. I seriously think the rotters have rotted by now.

ipfi L323, and looks silver all over
inner clear ring says MYWO 19 {backwards F or old English 7} I or 1, hard as hell to read this even on picture zoomed in. Have a look:
Your mold SID looks like IFPI OWYM. That number has come up in the Criterion bronzing thread, but thankfully it was in reference to the GOOD discs that were not bronzing.

Finally got my copy. It costed me 30 bucks plus the digital download codes to the first 7 Fast and the Furious movies from The Ultimate Ride collection. A bit costly, but the movie looks in brand new condition.

Now, I just need to get Dawn of the Dead.

It's such as shame that with so many cult titles getting such awesome blu releases, My Bloody Valentine, one of the top tier slashers, has to languish OOP. Come on Paramount, give it to Arrow or Scream already

Ahhh, my favorite movie to watch this time of year! The Lionsgate Blu Ray is really great. The picture quality is excellent for a film from 1981. I understand that the added gore shots weren't in high definition, but I'm still glad they were added. They look good enough to see what was originally intended. The rest of the movie looks great! I'm always happy to return to Valentine Bluffs at the beginning of February. Harry Warden still rules! And R.I.P. Alf Humphries.

Those uncut scenes are from an HD scan, just from a really bad print. Thankfully it survived on film at all and not just tape.

I recall on a forum somewhere (IMDb maybe) that someone spoke to the director, and there were apparently shots/scenes of additional gore that are ultimately lost.

I recall reading that the print with the extended gore scenes also included extra scenes (a few one) but the director didn't wanted to add them. It would have been nice to see them included as extrs

The one thing that stands out that seems to still be missing is the killing of the couple impaled together. They just come across them already dead - there seems like there should be a scene of them actually getting killed.

Nothing else is missing. The version released by Lionsgate is the full uncut version of the film. If I’m not mistaken, George Mihalka himself provided the trimmed footage.

When was that from though? Up until around 2007 all that footage was thought lost by everyone involved, then found by the director IIRC. It was a huge deal in horror circles when the dvd came out in early 09.

2009 interview promoting the release -
http://www.comingsoon.net/horror/new...alentine-uncut

Quote:
He believes the MPAA’s reaction was a testament to the effects work of Ken Diaz and Thomas Burman who each strived to introduce on-screen kills with a level of reality no one had ever seen before. Mihalka also attributes the MPAA’s alarm to the creative sound mix. “At one point they asked us to take one more frame out and we told them there are no more frames left there! It’s just the sound that’s making you feel that way. Now [with this DVD] we have it back to 80% of the image back and 95% of the impact back.”

Fans may balk that the new disc is not definitively uncut as it still lacks a few oft-rumored shots. Sadly, those choice bits have indeed been declared MIA. Mihalka discovered this when he was asked to do a director’s cut roughly six years ago. “We went through the vaults and found out all of that negative has corroded or disappeared.” What the DVD, furthermore the new print of the film, contains is the remaining salvaged footage found in producer John Dunning’s storage space.

“There was a scene with the two kids in the mine and they’re joined together forever,” Mihalka chuckles citing one still excised sequence. “There was a whole set up scene to that. They’re just necking and Tom’s lying on top of [Harriet] and the miner comes in and puts the [drill bit] through him. She’s got her eyes closed and thinks he’s just being a little frisky. She opens her mouth and her eyes just as he bleeds into her mouth. Then the miner goes whoomp! And [skewers] them both . That scene had to be taken out totally. It has disappeared and we’ll never see it.”

Mine isn’t bronzed, and played fine last time I watched it. I don’t know if there where multiple batches, but mine has a manufacturing date of 10/23/2009 in the matrix. Got it for $7.99 at Target on Black Friday 2012 or 2013.

That sounds like it would've been cool to see. Shame it's probably lost forever.

That sounds awesome, and now I'm bummed knowing what the actual scene was.

My copy (which I found used at a local FYE a year or two ago for $5) still works great.

As does mine which I just watched recently, though mine was purchased used on ebay about 6 months ago for $35.
