Paramount Gucci Mane Biopic in the Works (Paramount)

Gucci Mane Biopic in the Works from Imagine, Paramount Players (Exclusive)

Quote:
Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins will produce the project.

Rapper and trap music forefather Gucci Mane is getting the biopic treatment.

Paramount Pictures is teaming up with Imagine Entertainment, which produces the music industry show Empire and was behind the Eminem movie 8 Mile, to adapt The Autobiography of Gucci Mane.

The studio has retained the life rights to Mane, whose real name is Radric Delantic Davis, as well as the movie rights to the book, with the adaptation to be made via the Paramount Players arm.

Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Erica Huggins will produce the project with Mane and Todd Moskowitz acting as executive producer.

Mane is credited as the pioneer of Southern subgenre, trap music. The prolific Atlanta artist, who made his studio album debut in 2005 with Trap House, has released some 12 studio albums and 72 mixtapes.

The book tracked his struggles with addiction, his feuds with fellow artists and his ultimate road towards redemption. He was born in poverty-stricken Alabama and was the son of a conman. His mother moved the family to Atlanta, where Gucci fell into a lifestyle of selling dope and gang violence.

Beginning in 2014, Mane spent nearly three years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. While incarcerated, he decided that music was the only thing that could save him from a lifetime in prison and was inspired to make music for the drug-infested strip club scene he was so familiar with.

He then began releasing dozen of mixtapes from prison with the help of his then-girlfriend, and collaborated with Migos and Young Thug, among other rappers. After being released, Mane received his first No. 1 single on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2016, as a feature on Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles."

The planned biopic isn't Mane's first brush with Hollywood. He appeared alongside James Franco in Harmony Korine's 2012 feature, Spring Breakers.

UTA repped Mane in the deal.

Iíve hated Gucci since the song I first heard him on in 2008. Of all the hip-hop artists to get their own biopic, he should be among the last in line.

I always thought Black Beatles would sound dope in a movie, but I didn't think this lol

I'll keep an open mind.

I may be showing my age here, but I have no idea who this is.

I think I've heard that "Black Beatles" song, and it blows (along with most rap I've heard in the last few years). So this isn't for me.

Christ, I've never been a fan of rap and so I know I'm not really the right perso to judge this guys's work, but **** me I think I'd rather be hooked up via extra loud headphones to a Nicki Minaj playlist for 24hrs straight while Jay-Z repeatedly kicked me in the balls than ever listen to the above two tracks ever again!

Lol.

Don't worry, there are plenty of rap fans who don't like his music. I like some of his stuff but not definitely not everything.
