Thanks, I made the change on mine. Is it supposed to be an instant fix or is it supposed to gradually go away?

I tried the VSUS on high on my VT60, it got a little better, but I still can see the pink blob after I did it.

I'm considering buying a late model used Panasonic when one pops up again locally. Since I'm not going to go for an OLED until prices fall and I still watch a lot of SD material, I figured why not try a really good plasma set.

Or is there a relatively budget alternative that is much better? I'm still currently using my xbr960 hdcrt and adore its black levels and color.

The combination of setting VSUS to high along with placing two fans behind the TV's top vents to suck out all the hot air is what did the trick for me.

You can buy USB powered fans off of Amazon which you can daisy chain. I have mines plugged into one of the TV's USB ports so as soon as I turn on the TV, the fans come on.

Hope that helps.

Gamma preset
2.2 is 2.0
24 is 2.25
2.6 is 2.30

Is this true?I read it somwhere

I find gamma 2.4 looks a little washed out and find gamma 2.6 better.

With contrast pattern it should be 40 if I should preserve WTW,but is a little to dim.what do people set contrast with gamma 2.6.

I think my gt-30 plasma might be on the way out, I'm getting 1/3rd of my TV diagonal displays what looks like artifacting almost for the first couple minutes my TV is turned on. I do have it running through my receiver and will check to make sure it's not that by directly connecting and maybe try an new hdmi cable to rule that out also.

If it's my TV is their any value in trying to fix it, do these models have any value since plasmas are no longer available?

Gt60 still going strong. I'm totally reluctant to replace it.

I'm also nervous of having an OLED and careless kids!

Did anyone ever figure out how to find how many hours a tv has on it ? I have the Panasonic VIERA TC-P50ST50 , Still going strong from 2012 but is way too hot to run in our bedroom in the summer . We use a Sony 55" led for family room (horrible viewing angle compared the the Panny). I don't want to use the Plasma just for everyday viewing . I was considering moving the plasma to the basement eventually but I'm interested in getting a 4k Oled for the basement and making a nice home theater down there . Selling the Plasma is an option but I like to try and do it with the least risks and not having anyone inside my house . I really don't want anyone to know where I live either so selling big stuff like that is a pain . I would probably only do ebay where I can ship it , But I'm not going to get much and lots of fee's , Craigslist , No one is going to give me what I want for it which would be no less then $600 without shipping . Anyone have any suggestions or no where a good place to list for sale if i end up doing that .

You should donate then. Otherwise you have no choice but to do Craigslist where potential buyers come to your home. I have sold stuff and Craigslist, including TV's and have had buyers come to my home.

I still would like to see more brands of OLED on the market. The prices need to come down. Would like to see more sizes as well. I don't see OLED flooding market, eventually OLED will fail in the market if production continue to move at this snails pace. In my opinion, its still too early to jump into OLED. I was able to get a high quality Plasma for less than $2,000 at the height of PDP technology.

I agree on all points. Plus, what exactly makes OLED more expensive than LED's other than the fact it's the superior picture quality? Is there something in the production process that makes it more costly to manufacture? Is there something inherent in the tech itself that makes it more costly? Why do OLEDS HAVE to be more expensive than standard LED?

Do you have any insights on why Panasonic is not shipping their OLED set to the U.S.?
